Just when it looked like Minnesota had a series evening victory, Alex Rodriguez crushed the spirit of Twins fans watching when he hit a towering two run homerun off Twins closer Joe Nathan. Mark Teixiera hit a line drive homerun that hopped over the wall and into the first row of seats for a walkoff homerun!

The Angels pitching has dominated the Red Sox. The best news for them is that Game Three is at Fenway Park, but the Red Sox need to start hitting!

MLB.TV Is Amazing!

I got one week free of MLB.TV due to voting in the MLB Final Vote. This is the second year in a row I have taken advantage of the Free Week! I watched the Reds-Mets game on SNY-HD.The Reds beat The Mets 3-0. Watching that game, I can really see why the Mets are struggling. Their pitching is awful, their defense is bad, and they're not scoring runs, and Beltran, Delgado, And Jose Reyes are all hurt. When you download the MLB NextDef Act, the Standard Quality feed instantly is upgraded to HD-Quality! For an example, here is a screenshot from last nights Yankees-Angels Game I watched on Yes-HD.

That game wasn't the story though. Johnathan Sanchez of the Giants started in place of Randy Johnson, and threw the first no hitter of 2009! I didn't watch that game last night, but I watched the Condensed Game this morning, showing all of the important plays from that game, and Sanchez threw well in this game. An error by the Third Baseman kept Sanchez from throwing a perfect game!

Sanchez got some help with one out in the ninth. That ball looked like it was heading out, but Aaron Rowand made an incredible catch at the wall to save the game for Sanchez!

Then Sanchez was able to finish it off and complete the Giants first No Hitter in over 30 years! Unbelievable!

2009 MLB Preview: AL West

The 2008 AL West was simply: The Los Angeles versus everyone else. The Halos blew the rest of the AL West away, as nobody else even finished above .500.

What's in store for 2009? Let's take a look.

LOS ANGELES ANGELS
The Los Angels Angels blew out the rest of the AL West in 2008, thanks to star players like Mark Teixiera, and Francisco Rodriguez, who ended up shattering the record for saves in a single season. Both players are now in New York. However, like every good team must do, the Angels have "replaced" those players. Offensively, the Angels signed Bobby Abreu to a one year contract, and Brian Fuentes is the Angels new closer, coming over from the Colorado Rockies.


TEXAS RANGERS
There is optimism for the Rangers this season.They snared pitching coach Mike Maddux from the Milwaukee Brewers. In the offseason, The Rangers asked Michael Young to move from Shortstop to Third base so the Rangers could bring Phenom shortstop Elvis Andrus to the Rangers. He obliged. The Rangers have Ian Kinsler at Second Base. Can he stay healthy for a full season? Chris Davis will play first base rhis season. Rangers fans are excited to see what he can do for a full season. Josh Hamilton will continue to Crush the ball this season. Perhaps the biggest surprise to come out of Rangers Camp was the news that Texas had released Frank Catallanatto, replacing him with Andruw Jones.

Perhaps this Rangers club is getting ready for 2010, as players like Derek Holland and Nefetali Feliz continue to impress scouts with their Radar gun readings, and Justin Smoak could really crush the ball. Expect him to come up Mid-season, depending on how the Rangers are faring in the division.


OAKLAND ATHLETICS
For the other AL West teams, Old is new again. Jason Giambi returnd to the Bay Area after a few years in The Bronx. Matt Holliday joins the Atletics after coming over from Colorado. Don't expect his numbers to increase now that he has left Coors Field. The brightest spot in the Athletics rotation is Sean Gallagher.

SEATTLE MARINERS
More proof that old is new again in Seattle. Ken Griffey Jr is back with the Mariners after spending time with the Reds and White Sox. The Mariners rotation is Aced by "King Felix" Felix Hernandez. Erik Bedard will look to bounce back after a mediocre last season.

My Division Projections
1. LOS ANGELES ANGELS
The Angels may have lost Texiera and K-Rod, but Abreu and Fuentes make the Angels this division's best team again.
2. Texas Rangers
Elvis Andrus will shine in his debut season. Kevin Millwood and Vicente Padilla will have to pitch well for Texas to hang around this season.
3.Oakland Athletics
Jason Giambi is back, but the Athletics still have too many questionmarks to be competitive.
4.Seattle Mariners
They are just hoping that Ken Griffey Jr will cause them to sell extra tickets.

Angels, White Sox Each Force a Game 4

The Angels forced a game four in their playoff series with the Red Sox, after beating Boston 5-4 in 12 innings Sunday night. The White Sox will also play in a game four, after their 5-3 win over the Rays.

Mark Texiera Traded To Angels

The Braves on Tuesday traded Switch hittter Mark Teixeira to the Angels in exchange for Casey Kotchman and Minor League pitcher Stephen Marek.

This is a great deal for both teams. Atlanta gets a young first baseman in Kotchman and he may actually stay in Atlanta for a few years.


The Halos get the Power of Texiera as they are looking to head back to the World Series.

Bartolo Colon Looking To Replace Curt Schilling In Rotation

Former AL Cy Young Award winner Bartolo Colon agreed Monday to a minor league contract with the Boston Red Sox and will report to spring training.

The 34-year-old Colon right-hander was 6-8 with a 6.34 ERA in 19 games last season with the Los Angeles Angels.

He has been slowed by injuries, opening last year on the disabled list with a partial tear in his right rotator cuff and later going out with problems in his elbow.

If healthy, Colon could take a spot in the rotation that opened when Curt Schilling got hurt.

Jon Garland Traded To Angels For Orlando Cabrera

Jon Garland helped lead the White Sox to the World Series in 2005 as they beat the Angels in five games. Now Garland is going to the Angels.
The White Sox traded right-hander Jon Garland to the Los Angeles Angels on Monday for shortstop Orlando Cabrera.

The 28-year-old Garland, an 18-game winner in 2005 and 2006, was 10-13 with a 4.23 ERA in 32 starts last season. He 92-81 with a 4.41 ERA in 246 games, including 223 starts, over eight major league seasons, all with the White Sox.
Garland was acquired by the White Sox from the Cubs on July 29, 1998, for pitcher Matt Karchner.

Cabrera, 33, batted .301 with 35 doubles, eight home runs, 86 RBIs and a career-high 101 runs with the Angels last year. He had a career-high 192 hits.

He won his second Gold Glove and led AL shortstops in fielding percentage (.983). Cabrera, who has also played with Montreal and Boston during his 11-year career, is a career .273 hitter. He was on the 2004 Red Sox team that won the World Series

Chicago also receives cash as part of the trade.

Garret Anderson knocks in 10 RBIS in 18-9 Rout of Yankees

Alex Rodriguez will be the American League MVP, but tonight the MVP Was Garret Anderson. Anderson got his first Curtain Call of His Carreer Last Night, and he certainly deserved it.

Anderson's grand slam in the sixth inning gave him 10 RBIs and kept 44,264 fans on their feet until one of the most reserved players on the team grinned shyly and took his bow.

The 34-year-old Anderson earlier hit a three-run shot, drove in two runs with a double, and doubled home another run in Los Angeles' 18-9 rout of the New York Yankees on Tuesday night.

Although he became only the 12th player in major league history to reach double-digit RBIs in a game, he was surprised when the fans stood and cheered until he stepped out of the dugout.

Anderson became the first player with 10 RBIs in a game since Yankees star Alex Rodriguez also had 10 against the Angels on April 26, 2005.

Rodriguez hit a pair of solo shots Tuesday, with his 42nd homer of the season coming in the ninth inning off Marc Gwyn.

Wow! What a game! When you talk about a "barnburner" of a game, this is the sort of game you talk about. Alex Rodriguez hits two homeruns, but the Yankees lose thanks to the One Man, 10 RBI Show of Garret Anderson.
