Ronaldinho transferred to AC Milan late Tuesday, leaving FC Barcelona after the club’s new coach declared the team would plan for next season without the Brazilian playmaker.

The Italian club said late Tuesday Ronaldinho would arrive in Milan on Wednesday to get a medical exam and sign a contract through June 30, 2011.

Barcelona said that AC Milan will pay $33.4 million for Ronaldinho and another $6.3 million if it clinches a place in next season’s Champions League.

A two-time FIFA World Player of the Year, Ronaldinho has been seeking to leave Barcelona since new coach Pep Guardiola said that the star was not needed.

At Milan, he will join fellow Brazilians Kaka and Alexandre Pato.

The 28-year-old, who was under contract at the Camp Nou through 2010, was coming off one of his poorest seasons with nine goals in 26 appearances. Assorted injuries—ranging from a foot problem to thigh injury to knee tendinitis—accompanied by concerns over his social habits meant Ronaldinho played the fewest games since first moving to Europe to play for French side Paris St-Germain in 2001.

If Ronaldinho is healthy and can play at the same level when he was with Barcelona, AC Millan, no question about it, will be loaded. Ronaldinho joining Kaka and Pato, two great players, and they have a guy who is still one of the best players in the world.

AC Millan is heading for big things.

Spanish newspaper El Mundo Deportivo is reporting that FC Barcelona has agreed terms with AC Milan to send Brazilian star Ronaldinho to the San Siro for approximately $47 million.

An 'outline agreement' has reportedly been reached between the two European powerhouses.

The two-time FIFA World Player of the Year and World Cup winner in 2002 has only to agree terms with the transfer in order to complete the massive move.

The supremely gifted midfielder who led Barcelona to the 2006 Champions League title has fallen out of favor in recent months with head coach Frank Rijkaard after a string of injuries and inconsistent performances.

If the deal does indeed go through, Ronaldinho will join fellow Brazilians Kaka, Ronaldo, Alexandre Pato, Emerson and Dida, all who are currently on the books with AC Milan.

Ronaldinho began his professional career in his native Brazil back in 1998 with local club Gremio. In 2001, he made the jump to European football when he joined French club Paris St. Germain.

After two personally successful seasons in France, Barcelona snapped up the up-and-coming young star in 2003 and built its future team around him. They were rewarded in 2006 by winning Europe's biggest club prize - the UEFA Champions League trophy.

AC Millan is my favorite soccer team, and if this deal goes through, AC Millan gets a quality player. He may not be the best player in the world anymore, but he can still rocket goals from way outside.

Good move by Millan if this deal goes through.

Soccer brawl in Colombia leaves 78 injured, 18 with stab wounds

BOGOTA, Colombia (AP)—A stadium brawl at a soccer rivalry game left about 80 people wounded in the Colombian city of Cali late Saturday, 18 of them with stab wounds, emergency officials said.

Clashes broke out among America de Cali’s “Red Baron” fan club in the 82nd minute of the match with Deportivo de Cali and spread onto the field and around the Pascual Guerrero stadium.

Police fired tear gas as the brawlers lit firecrackers and tried to tear down fencing separating the stands from the field.

Eighteen people were stabbed during the melee, said Manuel Infante, spokesman for Cali’s Emergency Prevention Committee. They were treated at the stadium and taken to a local hospital. Another 60 suffered bruises and other minor injuries.

A young pregnant woman and three police officers were among the wounded, the Red Cross said.

Tensions flared over referee Wilman Roldan’s decision not to call a penalty kick against Cali. America protested the no-call, players traded blows on the field and America coach Diego Edison Umana got into the fray, elbowing his Cali counterpart Daniel Carreno.

Cali Mayor Jorge Ivan Ospina called Umana “directly responsible” for the violence and said the stadium’s stands would be closed temporarily.

Umana had harsh words for the refereeing later in comments published on the Web site of El Tiempo newspaper, but said there was “no excuse” for his behavior.

“It’s my fault, and if I have to leave soccer I’ll go,” Umana said.

Fans of the two Cali squads have had frequent clashes in the past, though less serious.

“This cannot happen again,” vowed Juan Carlos Abadia, governor of Del Valle department.

The chaos led Roldan to whistle an early end to the match, which Deportivo won 1-0 on a goal from defender Freddy Hurtado.

Martin Taylor Subject Of Death Threats Following Horriffic Injury To Eduardo

Birmingham defender Martin Taylor has been the subject of death threats after his challenge on Eduardo left the Arsenal star with a broken leg.

Croatian fans, angry at Eduardo being ruled out of the Euro 2008 finals, are among supporters who have posted threatening messages on various internet sites.

One website specifically set up after the incident during Saturday's 2-2 draw at St Andrews has already received 27,000 messages directed at the former Blackburn player.


And security personnel had to restrain Croatian journalists who ran onto the road and tried to get into Taylor's car as he left the club's Wast Hills training complex on Monday.

But Taylor has received many messages of support from people inside the game of football which Blues manager Alex McLeish claimed had helped to limit the psychological damage he could have suffered.

McLeish admitted that Taylor may have been unable to continue during Saturday's game had he not been given a red card by referee Mike Dean after the third minute incident.

Birmingham striker James McFadden is backing Taylor to put behind him the trauma of unintentionally breaking Eduardo's leg.

Taylor will have to wait at least a month before he can return to action after he collected an automatic three-match ban for his sending off.

The only good news on this injury is that Eduardo is expected to be back this year, but it will take a lot of work for him to recover from that type of injury.

I'm sure that Terry Taylor is sorry for what he did, in fact, he tried to apoligize right after the injury but it was too little too late.

Was the suspension enough? Sure. Taylor's sorry for what he did, and I'm sure he didn't do that on purpose.

Thierry Henry will leave Arsenal to head to Barcelona. Henry is leaving Arsenal and transferring to Barcelona for $32 Million dollars. Henry said he chose Barcelona for their play, their history and their stadium. Henry also said a reason for him leaving was the failure of the club to resign it's coach.

Henry is now headed to Barcelona to team up with Ronaldinho, the best soccer player in the world today. Barcelona was dangerous before just with Ronaldinho, but now he is teamed up with Thierry Henry for at least the next four years.
