Tom Brady has been suspended the first four games of the upcoming NFL Season due to the perception that there was a deflated football during the AFC Championship Game. Or something of that effect.

"Deflategate" is stupid to me. Does air pressure truly make that much of a difference?

Yes, the NFL has rules on air pressure inside footballs. However, inside the Wells Report, there is no definitive evidence that Tom Brady did anything wrong!

I do believe four games is excessive, however Brady destroying his phone seems to have sealed his fate for a four game suspension.

Tom Brady is still a four time Super Bowl Champion Quarterback, and that cannot be taken away.

Back to the call by Bellichick to go for it, As a coach, you have enough faith in the team to say "Surely, My Team can get Two Yards!" And, If Kevin Faulk does not Bobble the ball, The Patriots have a First down! Let's not forget in year's past, The Colts had a great offense, but they had a horrible defense! Let's say The Patriots get that first down, they have a first down at the thity one, and the Patriots would have been able to pad on to that six point lead.

So Many Bloggers and analysts are Monday Morning Quarterbacking with this call. This was a good agressive call that did not pan out.

Chiefs Go Two For One

Bill Pioli was in the Patriots front office for many years before moving onto Kansas City.

He will have two players from the Patriots in Kansas City.

The Patriots traded linebacker Mike Vrabel and Quarterback Matt Cassell to the Chiefs in exchange for their second round draft pick.

This is a great trade on both sides of the ball. Vrabel can be a productive player for a couple of more seasons and the Chiefs will no longer need to draft a Franchise Quarterback.

Report: Tom Brady Has Torn ACL, Out For Season

According to Radio Station WEEI, Tom Brady has a torn ACL. According to Yahoo Sports, Tom Brady will miss the rest of the season.

Brady was hurt as he stepped up in the pocket to make a throw to wide reciever Randy Moss. Chiefs safety Bernard Pollard, who was on the ground, lunged forward and struck Brady’s leg, which buckled as he released the ball.

Brady was helped off the field and was later led down a staircase by team officials, probably to undergo tests.

Matt Cassel came in and relieved Tom Brady, and looked pretty good in relief.

What is it about the Cassel brothers coming in to relieve someone today? While Matt relieved Tom Brady in the game, Jack Cassel, Matt's Older brother, relieved Houston Astros Pitcher Wandy Rodriguez after he left the game with a right oblique strain. Jack helped lead the Astros to a 7-5 win over the Colorado Rockies.

Randy Moss Signs Three Year Deal With Patriots

Randy Moss is returning to the New England Patriots.

The defending AFC champions re-signed the record-breaking receiver on Monday to a three-year deal worth $27 million, his agent said. The signing was confirmed by the team shortly after Moss posted a message to fans on his Web site.

"I want to take time out to thank all of the fans for their support and for wishing me well in my return to New England," therealrandymoss.com quotes him as saying. "I'm ready to get back. We have some unfinished business to take care of."

Moss' agent, Tim DiPiero, said the deal included guarantees of $15 million, including a $12 million signing bonus to the receiver who set an NFL record with 23 touchdown catches and helped the Patriots reach the Super Bowl in his first season with the team.

"Randy was serious about wanting to stay," DiPiero wrote in an e-mail. "Because of Randy's record-breaking year, the interest in him was very high. Randy took less than he could have to rejoin his teammates."

Pairing Moss with NFL MVP Tom Brady, who broke the league record with 50 touchdown passes, the Patriots breezed through the regular season with a perfect 16-0 record. They improved to an unprecedented 18-0 before blowing a chance at the league's longest unbeaten season with a 17-14 Super Bowl loss to the New York Giants.

"What Randy did for our team last year was outstanding," Patriots coach Bill Belichick said in a statement. "He is one of our most consistent, competitive and team-oriented players and it is undoubtedly a relationship we are excited to continue."

Moss, 31, has caught 774 passes for 12,193 yards in a 10-year career, and his 124 career receiving touchdowns are fourth in NFL history.

A four-time All-Pro, Moss took a pay cut to get out of Oakland and come to New England last April in exchange for a fourth-round draft pick. In addition to his 23 touchdowns, he caught 98 passes for 1,493 yards and largely avoided the type of turmoil that characterized his previous NFL stops.

During seven years with Minnesota, where he made five Pro Bowls, he was fined $10,000 for pretending to pull down his pants and moon the Green Bay crowd during a Vikings playoff win, and drew criticism for leaving the field with 2 seconds left in a loss to Washington.

He also bumped a traffic control officer with his car in 2002, verbally abused corporate sponsors on a team bus in 2001 and squirted an official with a water bottle in 1999.

In Oakland, he openly campaigned to be traded to a winning team. With the Patriots, he avoided controversy until the playoffs, when a woman sought a restraining order against him, claiming that he committed "battery causing serious injury."

Moss denied the allegation and said the woman was trying to get money from him.

Also Monday, the Patriots signed free agent receiver Sam Aiken.

The 27-year-old has played five seasons with the Buffalo Bills with 19 career receptions for 250 yards and 61 career special teams tackles.

Eagles Lure Asante Samuel Away From Patriots

Asante Samuel will play for the team he beat in Super Bowl XXXIX, the Philladelphia Eagles.

Asante Samuel has such good hands and terrific instincts that the All-Pro cornerback rarely drops the ball, one reason why he has 16 interceptions the last two years.

The Eagles instincts were on the ball, too, that Samuel was the kind of playmaker they desperately needed to strengthen a defense that recorded an NFL-worst 19 takeaways in 2007.

Philadelphia got its first one of 2008, signing the free-agent cornerback to a six-year contract on Friday and ending Samuel's five-year stint in New England.

"I just want a chance to be able to win and get back to the Super Bowl," Samuel said. "That's why I picked the Philadelphia Eagles."

Samuel, an All-Pro and Pro Bowl selection this past season, knows something about making timely picks. Samuel, who won two Super Bowl rings, has 22 career interceptions in 75 games.

"We regarded Asante as the No. 1 available free agent in the NFL," Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie said.

The Eagles wasted little time making an offer, reportedly worth around $57 million with $20 million guaranteed, on the first day of the free agent period.

The Eagles badly needed a shutdown corner - or a "pick magnet," as his agent called him - like Samuel. Philadelphia had only 11 interceptions last year and failed to score a defensive touchdown to go along with its abysmal takeaway record.

Samuel, a fourth-round draft pick in 2003, also tied the NFL career playoff record with three interceptions returned for TDs.

He was protected by New England last year by the franchise player tag. When asked if he felt underappreciated in New England, Samuel declined to comment.

"You just have to try to block it out of your mind," said Samuel of the tag.

Samuel tied Denver's Champ Bailey for the NFL lead with 10 interceptions in 2006 and returned two more picks for touchdowns in the postseason against the Jets and Colts. His 12 total interceptions in the 2006 regular season and playoffs were the highest combined single-season total in Patriots history.

Samuel kept New England's perfect 2007 regular season alive in late November against the Eagles. He returned an interception 40 yards for a touchdown and had a second pick off A.J. Feeley that halted a late Philadelphia drive in New England's 31-28 victory.

Samuel also won a Super Bowl ring when the Patriots beat the Eagles by three points in the Super Bowl in 2005.

So did the Patriots really know all of Philadelphia's signals before the game?

"This is over," said coach Andy Reid, with a laugh.

The acquisition means the Eagles will likely trade or shift positions for either Lito Sheppard or Sheldon Brown.

Sheppard, a two-time Pro Bowl selection, is reportedly unhappy with his contract. The Eagles denied a report earlier this month that Sheppard, who signed a five-year extension in 2004, had asked for or been given permission to seek a trade.

Reid said Samuel will be the starting left cornerback, or, what was Sheppard's starting job.

"When you have an opportunity to get the best one in the business, then you need to look at that," Reid said.

Samuel hoped Sheppard and Brown would be on the roster and felt the trio could give the Eagles perhaps the best secondary in the NFL.

Samuel said the Eagles were on the top of a list of four teams he considered visiting. After the Eagles gave him a hard sell on the first day free agents could sign, Samuel decided to stay in Philly.

"When you come to one that makes you happy, why wait around?" Samuel said.

Samuel is the latest in a line of former New England Super Bowl winners who have moved on, joining Deion Branch, Adam Vinatieri, David Givens and Daniel Graham.

Samuel did allow New York's David Tyree to get loose for a touchdown and the cornerback muffed a potential clinching interception with less than 2 minutes left in the Giants' 17-14 upset win in the Super Bowl. The stinging loss was still tough for him to get over.

"He'll have a chance to recover twice this year," Reid said.

The Eagles finished in last place in the NFC East at 8-8, the same division that includes the Giants and the Dallas Cowboys, whose 13-3 record was the best in the conference.

Patriots Release Roosevelt Colvin

It was a big coup when the Patriots signed Rosevelt Colvin, but that era has come to a close.

New England released the linebacker on Tuesday. Drafted by the Bears out of Purdue in 1999, Colvin spent his first four seasons in Chicago and established himself as a pass-rushing threat from his outside linebacker position. He registered 10½ sacks in both 2001 and 2002.

The Patriots signed the 6-foot-3, 250-pound Colvin as an unrestricted free agent in 2003. He had two sacks in his first two games that season before suffering a hip injury. While he never returned to his original form, Colvin did bounce back to lead the Patriots with seven sacks in 2005 and 8½ sacks in 2006.

His 52½ career sacks rank fifth among active NFL linebackers.

Last season, Colvin started 10 of his first 11 games before being shut down with a foot injury.

The Patriots also released linebacker Oscar Lua on Tuesday. He missed last season, his first, with a knee injury.

Fomer Rams Player Takes Advantage Of Spygate

A lawsuit filed Friday by a former St. Louis Rams player and others seeks millions of dollars in damages from the alleged taping of Rams practices by the New England Patriots before the 2002 Super Bowl.

The Patriots won the game 20-17 in the Superdome.

The $100 million suit, filed on behalf of former Rams player Willie Gary in U.S. District Court in New Orleans, names the Patriots, team owner Robert Kraft and head coach Bill Belichick.

The New England Patriots won the Super Bowl and ended the season with a perfect 19-0 record -- at least it looks that way in Nicaragua.

The NFL donated 290 Patriots hats and an equal number of team jerseys trumpeting the slogans "Super Bowl Champions, 19-0" to impoverished children from two small communities in southern Nicaragua.

Thursday's gifts could not change history -- the Patriots lost the Feb. 3 game to the New York Giants 17-14 -- but they made a lot of youngsters in the communities of San Gregorio and Buena Vista very happy, said Miriam Diaz, spokeswoman for the humanitarian organization World Vision, which arranged the donation with the NFL.


"They (Patriots) lost, but the children won," Diaz said.

The only "football" most of the children know is soccer, but they were very enthusiastic about the U.S. version of the game once the rules were explained to them, she said.

"They were very happy to receive the hats and jerseys," Diaz said. "They said they did not expect such a surprise."

Neither did the Patriots.

Specter: Bill Bellichick Videotaping Opponents Since 2000

Bill Belichick has been illegally taping opponents' defensive signals since he became the New England Patriots' coach in 2000, according to Sen. Arlen Specter, who said NFL commissioner Roger Goodell told him that during a meeting Wednesday.

"There was confirmation that there has been taping since 2000, when Coach Belichick took over," Specter said.

Specter said Goodell gave him that information during the 1-hour, 40-minute meeting, which was requested by Specter so the commissioner could explain his reasons for destroying the Spygate tapes and notes.

"There were a great many questions answered by Commissioner Goodell," Specter, the senior Republican on the Senate Judiciary Committee, told reporters after the meeting. "I found a lot of questions unanswerable because of the tapes and notes had been destroyed."

Goodell said Belichick told him he believed the taping was legal; Goodell said he did not concur.

"He said that's always been his interpretation since he's been the head coach," the commissioner said. "We are going to agree to disagree on the facts."

Specter, from Pennsylvania, wants to talk to other league officials about what exactly was taped and which games may have been compromised.

"We have a right to have honest football games," he said.

Goodell noted that "we were the ones that disclosed" the Patriots' illegal taping of the New York Jets' defensive signals in Week 1 of last season. Further, Goodell said, they had an admission by Belichick.

"I have nothing to hide," Goodell said.

Goodell also told Specter that that he doesn't regret destroying the Spygate tapes or the notes.

"I think it was the right thing to do," Goodell said.

Still, Specter wants to know why penalties were imposed on Belichick before the full extent of the wrongdoing was known and the tapes destroyed in a two-week span. Asked if he thinks there was a coverup, Specter demurred.

"There was an enormous amount of haste," Specter said.

He scoffed at the reasons Goodell gave for destroying the tapes and notes, particularly about trying to keep them out of competitors' hands and because Belichick had admitted to the taping.

"What's that got to do with it? There's an admission of guilt, you preserve the evidence," Specter said. As for keeping the tapes out of the hands of others: "All you have to do is lock up the tapes."

Belichick was fined $500,000 and the team was fined $250,000 because of the Spygate incident. The Patriots also forfeited a first-round draft pick.

Specter has questioned the quality of the NFL's investigation into the matter and raised the possibility of congressional hearings if he wasn't satisfied with Goodell's answers. Specter also raised the threat of Congress canceling the league's antitrust exemption and reiterated that in the meeting with Goodell.

A league official clarified to ESPN's Chris Mortensen that the NFL's current proposal to Patriots video assistant Matt Walsh includes a legal guarantee that he will not be sued by the league or the Patriots for any information or material he would provide to the NFL.

As Goodell said, the proposal stipulates that Walsh must be truthful and return anything he took improperly.

Walsh has had no response, according to Goodell.

Walsh told The Associated Press last week during the Pro Bowl in Hawaii that he couldn't talk about allegations that he taped a walkthrough practice by the St. Louis Rams before the 2002 Super Bowl. New England, a two-touchdown underdog, won that game 20-17.

Specter said he, too, wanted to talk to Walsh and perhaps offer a different deal.

Goodell also said he reserves the right to reopen the investigation if more information is uncovered.

PATRIOTS LEARN CHEATING DOESN'T PAY
This is the first Patriots loss in the Tom Brady era. This is the first Patriots loss since Super Bowl XXXI, when Brett Favre led Green Bay to their first title since the days of Bart Starr and Vince Lombardi in Super Bowl II.

You guy you have to feel sorry for is Junior Seau. This was his second trip to the Super Bowl, and once again, that Super Bowl Ring he has been craving has eluded him. Seau was with the San Diego Chargers when they were lit up by Steve Young, Jerry Rice, and the unstoppable San Francisco 49ers, as Steve Young set a Super Bowl Record that day, as he threw for six touchdown passes.

The Patriots were accused of videotaping the Jets during Week One, and now a new report has surface that a Patriots worker taped a Rams Practice prior to Super Bowl XXXVI. I could understand why many fans would think the dynasty deserves an asterisk, especially with the new allegations surfacing.

Eli hadn't been in the league long enough to have the monkier on him, but just like his brother Peyton, Eli Was victorious in his first Super Bowl Appearance.

Giants Stun Patriots 17-14 In Super Bowl XLII

Eli Manning, just like his brother Peyton Last Year, Was Voted Super Bowl MVP.
With the Super Bowl on the line, look who had the perfection thing down pat: Eli Manning and the road-conquering New York Giants.
And what a beauty their 11th straight road victory was, a 17-14 Super Bowl win Sunday that shattered the New England Patriots' unblemished season.


In one of the biggest upsets in Super Bowl history, Manning, New York's unlikely Mr. Cool, hit Plaxico Burress on a 13-yard fade with 35 seconds left. It was the Giants' fourth consecutive postseason away win and the first time the Patriots tasted defeat in more than a year.

"There's something about this team," Manning said. "The way we win games, and performed in the playoffs in the stretch. We had total confidence in ourselves. The players believed in each other."

It was the most bitter of losses, too, because 12-point favorite New England (18-1) was one play from winning and getting the ultimate revenge for being penalized for illegally taping opponents' defensive signals in the season opener against the New York Jets.

"I don't rank them," Patriots coach Bill Belichick said. "It's disappointing."

The Giants had the perfect answer for the suddenly imperfect Patriots: a big, bad defense and the improbable comeback led by Manning. Yes, Eli Manning, who outplayed league MVP Tom Brady and furthered the family legacy one year after older brother Peyton led Indianapolis to the title.

"I talked to Peyton and he said, 'Go in there, have some fun, you can do it."'

It was how Eli and the Giants did it.

After Brady found Randy Moss for a 6-yard touchdown with 2:42 to go, New England's defense couldn't stop a final, frantic 12-play, 83-yard drive. It featured Manning's unlikely sack-avoiding scramble and a spectacular leaping catch by David Tyree, who had scored New York's first touchdown on the opening drive of the fourth quarter.

"It's the greatest feeling in professional sports," Burress said before bursting into tears.

"That's a position you want to be in," said Manning, who followed Peyton's MVP performance last year with one of his own. "You can't write a better script. There were so many big plays on that drive."

And now the 1972 Miami Dolphins can pop another bottle of champagne in celebration of a record still intact, the NFL's only perfect season.

"As for the 1972 Dolphins, I don't take joy in the fact the Patriots lost - period," said Jim Mandich, the tight end on the 17-0 team. "But I do relish and savor the fact that there has only been one unbeaten team in the history of the NFL, and it is the 1972 Miami Dolphins."

The Patriots were done in not so much by the pressure of the first unbeaten season in 35 years as by the pressure of a smothering Giants pass rush. Brady, winner of his first three Super Bowls, was sacked five times, hurried a dozen more and at one point wound up on his knees, his hands on his hips following one of many poor throws in New England's lowest scoring game of the season.

"They played well," Belichick said. "They made some plays. We made some plays. They just made a few more. We played as hard as we could. We just couldn't make enough plays."

Hardly a familiar position for the record-setting Patriots and their megastar quarterback. This time, it wasn't the Patriots but the Giants making the game-winning rally. This time, the unflappable quarterback making the clutch play wasn't Brady but Manning, who had been booed by Giants fans for most of his four seasons for a lack of emotion.


Oddly, it was a loss to the Patriots that sparked New York's stunning run to its third Super Bowl and sixth NFL title. New England won 38-35 in Week 17 to finish the spotless regular season. The New York Giants earned the right to represent the NFC in the Super Bowl with a thrilling 23-20 Overtime victory over the Green Bay Packers. The New England Patriots earned the right to represent the AFC in the Super Bowl with a 38-34 victory over the San Diego Chargers. In Week 17, these two teams met with the Patriots completing their perfect regular season, overcoming a twelve point defecit to win 38-35.

NEW ENGLAND O: Tom Brady, Patriots QB: Tom Brady already has three Super Bowl Rings, and is in unprecedented territory. With a win on Sunday, he will join Joe Montana and Terry Bradshaw as the only quarterbacks with four Super Bowl Rings. Tom Brady has the chance to have four Super Bowl Rings at the age of thirty, which is unheard of in NFL History!

Tom has been well so far in the postseason, playing smart, being patient, not turning the ball over often, and putting the ball in the hands of his playmakers, Laurence Mauroney, Wes Welker and Randy Moss. Brady also has been bailed out when he turns the ball over (A Rarity) by this great New England defense.

Eli has been making smart decisions and taking advantage of what the defense gives him. That’s why the Giants have won nine road games in a row and have won all of their playoff games, which were on the road. Eli will have to keep this formula working if the G-Men are to pull the upset.

NEW YORK D: Giants Front Four, : New York DE: The Giants Front Four will have to get pressure on Tom Brady, forcing him to throw the ball before he wants to. Easier said than done.

The Last time Tom Coughlin led the G-Men to the Playoffs Wild Card Weekend Last Season, The Eagles knocked them out with a last-second Field Goal. Now, The Giants have the last laugh, as they are where the Eagles were last time the Patriots were in the Super Bowl.


Special Teams: If the offense and defense are neutralized, Special Teams is going to be how the Super Bowl will be won. Will the Giants Special Teams squad be able to contain the Patriots speedster, Ellis Hobbs? Will the Patriots be able to score points when they need it most? Or will they have to settle for field goals from the Adequate Stephen Gostowski, who is a fine replacement for Adam Vinateiri, who already has three Super Bowl Rings, he got those with the Patriots?

I can't wait for the Super Bowl. I Watch The World Series and the NBA Finals, but the only Sporting Event I Record every season is The Super Bowl. This will be my seventh year recording the Super Bowl. The first Super Bowl I Recorded was Super Bowl XXXVI, when the New England Patriots pulled off the biggest upset since Super Bowl III.

Can The Giants win the Super Bowl? Absolutely they can. When The Monday after the Championship Games were over, I thought that if the Giants won, it would be an even bigger upset than the Jets beating the Colts in Super Bowl III. Now, I realize this won’t be the biggest upset since Super Bowl III. It Won’t even be the biggest upset since Super Bowl XXVI. There are a lot of people out there underestimating the G-Men.


Knowing the Super Bowl, anything is possible, and that is why everybody loves to watch it, even if they watch just for the commercials.



Prediction: Both Eli Manning and Tom Brady will go deep to their playmakers early and often. This would have been impossible last Super Bowl due to the rain, but with a Retractable Roof Stadium, there will be no rain in this Super Bowl forecast. The Patriots Front Four will have to stop Brandon Jacobs and Ahmad Bradshaw. The Patriots Secondary will have to contain the 6'5 Plaxico Buriss. Ditto with The Giants defense having to contain Wes Welker and Randy Moss while also getting Pressure on Tom Brady. Once Again, easier said than done.

One Final Thing: What Is The Place in History for this Patriots Team if they win the Super Bowl? They will be the greatest Champs of all time.
