Super Bowl XLIV Preview

Congratulations to the New Orleans Saints and the Indianapolis Colts, who both earned the right to go to Miami, Florida to play in Super Bowl XLIV. The New Orleans Saints earned the right to represent the NFC in the Super Bowl with a thrilling 31-28 overtime victory over the Minnesota Vikings. The Indianapolis Colts earned the right to represent the AFC in the Super Bowl with a 30-17 victory over the New York Jets.

Key Players on both sides of the ball:
INDY O: Peyton Manning, Colts QB: Peyton Manning already has one Super Bowl Ring that he earned when he Quarterbacked the Colts with a victory in Super Bowl XLI. With a win on Sunday, he will have his second Super Bowl Ring. He will one behind Tom Brady in the race to the QB with the most rings, but that won’t stop some from calling Peyton “The Greatest Ever” if he wins this game.

Peyton has been well so far in the postseason, playing smart, being patient, not turning the ball over often, and putting the ball in the hands of his playmakers, Joseph Addai, Austin Collie and Reggie Wayne. Peyton also has been helped out when he turns the ball over by this good defense.

Peyton needs to play smart, be patient, not turn the ball over, and go deep for his playmakers. Peyton will have to keep this formula working if the Colts are to win this game.

SAINTS D: Darren Sharper, Saints D: Sharper is, no doubt the heart of the Saints D. Sharper and Scott Fujita are the Saints Defensive Playmakers. Remember how in the NFC Championship Game, The Saints did not sack Brett Favre, but they hit him almost every time he dropped back to pass? The Saints Defense will have to get pressure on Peyton Manning, forcing him to throw the ball before he wants to.


NEW ORLANS O: Drew Brees, Saints QB: Drew Brees is Quarterbacking what many people are calling “The New America’s Team. Now the Pressure is on him to lead the Saints win their first ever Super Bowl. Drew has been making smart decisions and taking advantage of what the defense gives him. Big Ben is going to throw to Marques Colston, Devery Henderson, and the rookie Robert Meachem. The Saints will also be running the ball early and often with Reggie Bush, Pierre Thomas, and Mike Bell. Drew needs to play smart, be patient, not turn the ball over, and go deep for his playmakers. Kurt will have to keep this formula working if the Saints are to pull the upset.

NEW ORLEANS D: Tracy Porter & Jabari Greer : New Orlans CB: The Saints Corners will have to knock the Colts receivers off their routes. If they do this, they can create turnovers. Remember how Adrian Peterson kept fumbling because Saints defenders were getting anything they could on the ball, be it a helmet or a hand? Expect the Saints to try that again on Sunday.


Special Teams: If the offense and defense are neutralized, Special Teams is going to be how the Super Bowl will be won. Will the Colts Special Teams squad be able to contain the Saints speedster, Reggie Bush? Will the Saints be able to score points when they get down into the goal line? Or will they have to settle for field goals from the very good Garrett Hartley?

I can't wait for the Super Bowl. I Watch The World Series and the NBA Finals, but the only Sporting Event I Record every season is The Super Bowl. This will be my eighth year recording the Super Bowl. The first Super Bowl I Recorded was Super Bowl XXXVI, when the New England Patriots pulled off the biggest upset since Super Bowl III.

Can The Saints win the Super Bowl? No doubt about it. Knowing the Super Bowl, anything is possible, and that is why everybody loves to watch it, even if they watch just for the commercials.

Prediction: Both Peyton Manning and Drew Brees to rely on the running game early. They both could rely on the short passing game to help build up their confidence. The Saints Front Four will have to stop Joseph Addai and Reggie Wayne. Ditto with The Colts defense, with a hobbled Dwight Freeney, having to contain Reggie Bush and Marques Colston while also getting Pressure on Peyton Manning. Once Again, easier said than done.

Drew Brees has had the clock ticking for his chance at a ring since he was with the Saints. Peyton Manning has the chance to get his second. The two best teams all year are playing for a championship.

The 2008 NFL Schedule Is Out!

Eli Manning and the Super Bowl Champion New York Giants face off against Division Rival Washington in the Season Opener.
The Buffalo Bills will play in Toronto on Dec. 7 against Miami as part of an effort to expand their market to Canada.


This marks the first time the Bills will play during the regular season in Toronto, about a 1½-hour drive from Buffalo. The game was one of the highlights of the NFL schedule released Tuesday.

The season opens Sept. 4 with Washington, led by new head coach Jim Zorn, at the Super Bowl XLII champion New York Giants, a game already announced along with three others from the opening weekend: Chicago at Indianapolis on Sunday night, Sept. 7 and two games Monday night, Sept. 8: Minnesota at Green Bay and Denver at Oakland.

ESPN's Monday night schedule concludes with one of the NFL's most-heated rivalries, with the Packers hosting the Bears. Green Bay appears three times on Monday night, matching the Browns for most appearances on Monday night in 2008.

The Giants make their lone Monday night appearance on Oct. 13 when they travel to Cleveland. The Patriots, who flirted with a perfect season in 2007, will make their only Monday night appearance on Oct. 20 when they host the Broncos.

Also, the Houston Texans will make their first-ever appearance on Monday Night Football, hosting the Jaguars on Dec. 1.

For the second consecutive year, a regular-season game will be played at London's Wembley Stadium, with New Orleans, the "home" team, opposing San Diego on Oct. 26. The Dolphins and Giants played there last season.

New England, which was upset in the Super Bowl by the Giants but has a record 19-game regular-season winning streak, will open at home against Kansas City on Sept. 7. In what has become an annual must-see game, Tom Brady and the Patriots will visit Peyton Manning and the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday, Nov. 2.

Once again, there will be a Thanksgiving Day tripleheader. The Lions will host the the Titans at 12:30 p.m. ET, the Seahawks will visit the Cowboys at 4:15 p.m. ET and the Eagles will host the Cardinals at 8:15 p.m. ET.

Besides Zorn, three other NFL coaches will make their debuts this season. In Week 1, the Ravens' John Harbaugh will lead his team against the Cincinnati Bengals in Baltimore; the Dolphins' Tony Sparano will make his debut against the Jets in Miami; and the Falcons' Mike Smith will lead his team against the Lions.

The NFL Network games, in their third season, will start earlier this season with Denver at Cleveland on Thursday, Nov. 6. In all, there will be eight, but no Saturday night game on the final weekend when last year the Patriots finished an unbeaten regular season by beating the Giants 38-35 in a contest that also was shown by NBC and CBS because the NFL Network's dispute with major cable systems limited its availability.

The other NFL Network games are all on Thursday nights except for Saturday, Dec. 20, when Baltimore is at Dallas.

PATRIOTS LEARN CHEATING DOESN'T PAY
This is the first Patriots loss in the Tom Brady era. This is the first Patriots loss since Super Bowl XXXI, when Brett Favre led Green Bay to their first title since the days of Bart Starr and Vince Lombardi in Super Bowl II.

You guy you have to feel sorry for is Junior Seau. This was his second trip to the Super Bowl, and once again, that Super Bowl Ring he has been craving has eluded him. Seau was with the San Diego Chargers when they were lit up by Steve Young, Jerry Rice, and the unstoppable San Francisco 49ers, as Steve Young set a Super Bowl Record that day, as he threw for six touchdown passes.

The Patriots were accused of videotaping the Jets during Week One, and now a new report has surface that a Patriots worker taped a Rams Practice prior to Super Bowl XXXVI. I could understand why many fans would think the dynasty deserves an asterisk, especially with the new allegations surfacing.

Last Year, Peyton Manning got the monkier of "Never Won A Super Bowl" off his back as Peyton won the Super Bowl MVP As His Colts beat The Chicago Bears 29-10 in Super Bowl XLI.

Eli hadn't been in the league long enough to have the monkier on him, but just like his brother Peyton, Eli Was victorious in his first Super Bowl Appearance.

Superman, a.k.a Tom Brady, has a weakness after all. The Giants were the first team all season to bring defensive Pressure on Tom Brady all Sixty Minutes. The Giants Front Four kept collapsing the pocket, forcing the wounded Brady to move around. Brady kept tasting the artificial turf of University of Phoenix Stadium, and he never got to taste this much grass in a single game all season.

Giants Stun Patriots 17-14 In Super Bowl XLII

Eli Manning, just like his brother Peyton Last Year, Was Voted Super Bowl MVP.
With the Super Bowl on the line, look who had the perfection thing down pat: Eli Manning and the road-conquering New York Giants.
And what a beauty their 11th straight road victory was, a 17-14 Super Bowl win Sunday that shattered the New England Patriots' unblemished season.


In one of the biggest upsets in Super Bowl history, Manning, New York's unlikely Mr. Cool, hit Plaxico Burress on a 13-yard fade with 35 seconds left. It was the Giants' fourth consecutive postseason away win and the first time the Patriots tasted defeat in more than a year.

"There's something about this team," Manning said. "The way we win games, and performed in the playoffs in the stretch. We had total confidence in ourselves. The players believed in each other."

It was the most bitter of losses, too, because 12-point favorite New England (18-1) was one play from winning and getting the ultimate revenge for being penalized for illegally taping opponents' defensive signals in the season opener against the New York Jets.

"I don't rank them," Patriots coach Bill Belichick said. "It's disappointing."

The Giants had the perfect answer for the suddenly imperfect Patriots: a big, bad defense and the improbable comeback led by Manning. Yes, Eli Manning, who outplayed league MVP Tom Brady and furthered the family legacy one year after older brother Peyton led Indianapolis to the title.

"I talked to Peyton and he said, 'Go in there, have some fun, you can do it."'

It was how Eli and the Giants did it.

After Brady found Randy Moss for a 6-yard touchdown with 2:42 to go, New England's defense couldn't stop a final, frantic 12-play, 83-yard drive. It featured Manning's unlikely sack-avoiding scramble and a spectacular leaping catch by David Tyree, who had scored New York's first touchdown on the opening drive of the fourth quarter.

"It's the greatest feeling in professional sports," Burress said before bursting into tears.

"That's a position you want to be in," said Manning, who followed Peyton's MVP performance last year with one of his own. "You can't write a better script. There were so many big plays on that drive."

And now the 1972 Miami Dolphins can pop another bottle of champagne in celebration of a record still intact, the NFL's only perfect season.

"As for the 1972 Dolphins, I don't take joy in the fact the Patriots lost - period," said Jim Mandich, the tight end on the 17-0 team. "But I do relish and savor the fact that there has only been one unbeaten team in the history of the NFL, and it is the 1972 Miami Dolphins."

The Patriots were done in not so much by the pressure of the first unbeaten season in 35 years as by the pressure of a smothering Giants pass rush. Brady, winner of his first three Super Bowls, was sacked five times, hurried a dozen more and at one point wound up on his knees, his hands on his hips following one of many poor throws in New England's lowest scoring game of the season.

"They played well," Belichick said. "They made some plays. We made some plays. They just made a few more. We played as hard as we could. We just couldn't make enough plays."

Hardly a familiar position for the record-setting Patriots and their megastar quarterback. This time, it wasn't the Patriots but the Giants making the game-winning rally. This time, the unflappable quarterback making the clutch play wasn't Brady but Manning, who had been booed by Giants fans for most of his four seasons for a lack of emotion.


Oddly, it was a loss to the Patriots that sparked New York's stunning run to its third Super Bowl and sixth NFL title. New England won 38-35 in Week 17 to finish the spotless regular season. But by playing hard in a meaningless game for them, the Giants (14-6) gained something of a swagger and Manning found his footing.

Their growing confidence carried them through playoff victories at Tampa, Dallas and Green Bay, and then past the mightiest opponent of all.

Not that the Patriots were very mighty this day. They even conceded with 1 second on the clock as Belichick ran across the field to shake the hand of jubilant Giants coach Tom Coughlin, then headed to the locker room, ignoring the final kneeldown.

That it was Manning taking that knee was stunning. He showed the maturity and brilliant precision late in the game usually associated with, well, Brady.

Peyton Manning was seen in a luxury box jumping up and pumping both fists when Burress, who didn't practice all week because of injuries, caught the winning score.

"We just hung in there on offense, kept executing," said Burress, who wasn't far off on the 23-17 prediction he made a few days ago. "It came down to one play and we made it."

The Giants became the first NFC wild card team to win a Super Bowl; four AFC teams have done it. They also are the second wild-card champions in three years, following the Pittsburgh Steelers after the 2005 season.

The upset also could be viewed as a source of revenge not only for the Giants, but for the other NFL teams over Spygate back in September. That cheating scandal made headlines again late in Super Bowl week, and could have placed an infinite cloud over New England's perfection.

NFL Divisional Playoff Preview

Here Is Your Preview for the NFL Divisional Playoffs. When Monday Morning rolls around, four teams will be left standing in their quest for the Lombardi Trophy.

SATURDAY GAMES
SEAHAWKS AT PACKERS 4:30 PM EST FOX

This game has many storylines, the biggest one being how Mike Holmgren, who coached Brett Favre into the Hall Of Famer he is today and Coached the Packers to a victory in Super Bowl XXXI, will be on the other sideline with his Seattle Seahawks, who he led to an appearance in Super Bowl XL.

This Packers team is the best one of this decade. This is Brett Favre's 21st Playoff Game, which will break a tie with Steve Young for fifth all time.

Favre's 11-9 postseason record includes only one win in his last five appearnaces, but the victory came against Seattle at Lambeau Field. That 33-27 Overtime Victory on January 4, 2004, is best remembered for Matt Hasselbeck saying after the coin toss at the end of regulation "We want the ball and we're going to score!" Hasselbeck went on to throw an interception in overtime which was returned 52 yards by Al Harris for the game winning touchdown.

That's the only playoff game in which Brett Favre has not thrown an interception.

Let's look ahead to the present... This game will be worth camping out in front of the HD Set for. I expect there to be plenty of scoring for both teams. Shaun Alexander and Ryan Grant will have to run for good yardage. I think Green Bay will beat Seattle to advance to the NFC Championship Game.

JAGUARS AT PATRIOTS 8:00 PM EST CBS

The New England Patriots went undefeated in the Regular Season, but their perfect Regular season means nothing unless they have a perfect postseason as well.

With all the records this team set, if they go all the way and win the Super Bowl, they will no doubt be called the greatest team of all time.

The Jaguars are very underrated as a team. The two headed monster running game in the pairing of Fred Taylor and Maurice Jones-Drew. Taylor has the power to run over defenders, while Jones-Drew is the most elusive running back in the NFL today. I was watching the Jags play the Texans earlier this year and they were comapring Jones-Drew's elusiveness to Barry Sanders, and he has all the moves that Barry does!

Everyone knows the Jaguars can run, but they also have a very underrated defense, headlined by Marcus Stroud and John Henderson. The Patriots will not be able to run against Jacksonville today.

The Jaguars will have to play a ball control offensive attack. They will have to run it down the throats of the Patriots. The Jags have no passing game, so they have to run and keep running.

I'm torn. Part of me wants to see the Jags win while another part of me wants to see the Patriots go 16-0. I'll go with The Patriots because they have never lost at Foxboro.

CHARGERS AT COLTS 1:00 PM EST CBS
Tony Dungy leads the Colts in their quest to repeat as Super Bowl Champions since The Patriots did in 2004 and 2005. They will face a San Diego team that beat them in the regular season 23-21, as Adam Vinateiri missed the game winning field goal. I think the Colts will beat the Chargers, but the Chargers will remember when they beat the Colts on Veteran's Day. That will be their modivation.

The Colts defense had better be prepared to see a heavy dose of the run, and they nedd to be prepares in case LT tries to leap over the pile into the endzone.

The Colts offense need to be prepared in case the Chargers send blitzers, and San Diego will blitz early and often. Peyton Manning will need to get rid of the ball quickly.

COLTS OVER CHARGERS

GIANTS VS COWBOYS 4:30 PM EST FOX

If the Cowboys defeat the Giants Sunday, the Cowboys will bwcome the first team to beat another team three times in the same season.

Dallas has not won a playoff game since 1996. They will try and change their luck against the Giants.

Eli Mannning looked solid against the Buccaneers defense last week, and I expect him to have much of the same success against this Cowboy defense.

The Cowboy defense needs to blitz early and often, get prssure in Eli's face, to get him to release the ball quicker than he wants to. This will hopefully lead to some turnovers.

The Passing game will have to rely more on Jason Witten, Terry Glenn, and Patrick Crayton because Terrell Owens will not be 100 percent for this game.

The Dallas Cowboys will beat the New York Giants to face Green Bay in the NFC Championship Game.

Week Seventeen NFL Preview

In The Final Regular Season NFL Preview, Tom Brady and the New England Patriots chase perfection Saturday Night against Michael Strahan and the New York Giants.

Welcome to the final NFL Preview of 2007. It is the final regular season week for football, and there are a couple of teams who will know if they are in or out of the playoff picture by the end of this week.

SATURDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL: PATRIOTS AT GIANTS 8:15 PM EST(THE GAME OF THE WEEK)
Already the first team to go 15-0 in a regular season, New England now tries to join the 1972 Miami Dolphins as the only teams to take an unbeaten record into the playoffs. Miami went 14-0 that season and won the Super Bowl, but this year's Dolphins could not spoil the Patriots' perfect run last Sunday and lost 28-7 at Foxborough.

New York (10-5) is locked into the No. 5 seed in the NFC and might want to rest some starters because it does not have a first-round bye. The Giants will visit Tampa Bay in a wild-card game next weekend.

No opponent has had a good answer defensively for the Patriots, whose 551 points leave them needing just six to break the league's single-season record set by the 1998 Minnesota Vikings. The only time New England failed to total more than 20 points or 300 yards of offense came two weeks ago against the New York Jets in horrendous weather conditions, but there is no rain, snow or strong wind in the forecast for Saturday.

A clear night would only make things easier on Brady, Moss and New England's vaunted air attack. Single-season league records are in sight for both Pro Bowlers, with Brady needing two touchdown passes to break Peyton Manning's record of 49 and Moss two TD receptions away from surpassing Jerry Rice's record of 22.

Another record within the Patriots' grasp is the one for consecutive regular-season victories. They already have tied their own league record by winning 18 straight.
Tom Brady enters this game 105 yards shy of Drew Bledsoe's 1994 club record of 4,555.

New England looks to become the fourth team in the modern era to start an NFL season 13-0 and the first to win 16 straight regular-season games since the Steelers in 2004-05 when it hosts Pittsburgh on Sunday.

If there was a team equipped to end the Patriots' streaks, the Steelers (9-3) may fit the bill. After all, Pittsburgh ended New England's league-record 21-game winning streak -- 18 in the regular season -- on Oct. 31, 2004, when it was in the midst of winning 16 in a row. The Patriots returned the favor on Sept. 25, 2005, stopping the Steelers' streak with a come-from-behind win at Heinz Field.

Even though the Steelers are heavy underdogs this time heading into Foxborough, their top-ranked defense has allowed the fewest points, total yards and passing yards in the NFL. New England is No. 1 offensively in each of those categories.

The only teams to begin a season 13-0 since the 1970 AFL-NFL merger were 1972 Miami, 1998 Denver and 2005 Indianapolis.

New England can clinch home field advantage with a win and a Colts loss. With a win, the Patriots clinch a First Round bye. Pittsburgh clinches the AFC North with a win and a Browns loss. The Steelers clinch a Playoff berth with a win and a Titans loss.

I'll go with New England over Pittsburgh. New England has come close to losing twice. Maybe the third time they will trail and not be able to come back.

It was the only points of the game as Pittsburgh won 3-0. That Monday Night Game for The Steelers is the Definition of Winning Ugly. Torii Hunter's Days as a Minnesota Twin Are Over.

Free-agent center fielder Torii Hunter signed a five-year, $90 million contract late Wednesday night with the Los Angeles Angels.
Hunter, considered the top free-agent center fielder on the market, spurned five-year offers from the Chicago White Sox, Texas Rangers and Kansas City Royals.

Hunter, 32, who hit .287 with 28 home runs and 107 RBI last season for the Minnesota Twins, is the Angels' second big acquisition this week. The Angels traded for starter Jon Garland of the Chicago White Sox on Monday in exchange for shortstop Orlando Cabrera.

The acquisition of Hunter will move Gary Matthews Jr. from center field to right field and Vladimir Guerrero to the DH spot.

That thread is gone if they lose against The Raiders.

This is Indy's first game since their 28-24 loss to the Patriots last week. This is San Diego's first game since Adrian Peterson ran all over them for 296 yards. Both of these teams have chips on their shoulder. Both have something to prove. I think this game will come down to how well the defense responds when the other team is on the field. If San Diego cannot get pressure on Peyton Manning, they're in trouble. If Indy cannot stop LaDanian Tmlinson, they're in trouble. I'll go with Indy to win this game, but the absense of Marvin Harrison will hurt the Colts in the passing game.

Kurt Warner is hoping to rebound after throwing three interceptions two weeks ago against The Redskins. Tampa Bay will win the game. If Jeff garcia on target and the defense picks off Warner a couple of times, this one's in the bag.

Both of these teams have players injured at the Quarterback Spot. If David Carr cannot start for The Panthers, Vinny Testaverde's feel good story will continue for another week. If Vince Young is healthy for this game, Tennesee's Offensive Funk is over.

The Buffalo Bills won last week as they defeated the New York Jets. Cincinnatti lost to the Pittsburgh Steelers last week. Buffalo has a two headed monster at Quarterback named Trent Losman, A Mixture of J.P. Losman and Trent Edwards. Okay, I'm kidding on that one. But my point is that it doesn't matter which one of these two aren't playing, the other steps up and plays just as well. The Bengals have easily been the most inconsistent team in the NFL. The Bills will win this game.

Denver will win this game. I have not been sold on the Lions all season, but I also have not been sold on the Broncos. It's a toss up. I'll go with the Lions because they're at home.

NEW ENGLAND AT INDIANAPOLIS 4:15 PM EST THE GAME OF THE WEEK AND GAME OF THE YEAR, UNTIL THE SUPER BOWL.
Whenever Tom Brady's Patriots meet up against Peyton Manning's Colts, fieworks are going to fly. The Colts won both of their regular season matchups in the regular season against The Colts last season. The Patriots had a 17 point lead at the end of the first Half of last season's AFC Championship Game until Peyton Manning and his Colts stormed back to finally take the lead on a one yard Touchdown Run by Joseph Addai with one minute remaining. The Patriots had to go eighty yards in just about one minute, but Merlin Jackson intercepted Tom Brady and The Indianapolis Colts won the right to go to the Super Bowl, where they defeated the Chicago Bears 29-17.

Fast Forward to the offseason.The Patriots, already great, became greater with the addition of Randy Moss and Wes Welker on Offense and Adalius Thomas on Defense. The 8-0 Patriots are meeting up against the 7-0 Colts. I think the winner of this game will win Super Bowl XLII.

The Patriots have scored at least 30 points in every game this season. The Patriots have won every game by at least 17 points this season. The Colts are getting Marvin Harrison back for this game, but they have not needed him. It doesn't matter who The Colta re missing, whether it's Marvin Harrison, or Joseph Addai, The Colts have plugged up the holes, and they have found a way to win. The Colts will have to score early and often, and they will have to protect against the blitz, because the Patriots blitz early and often. Everyone knows that any quarterback gets nervous when there are two are three guys ready to pounce on them. Peyton will have to stick with the short passing game.

This is the game of the year until the Super Bowl. I am picking The Patriots to win this game.

If It Wasn't for Indianapolis versus New England, this would be the game of the week. Dallas versus Philladelphia is always a big NFC East Matchup, and it is no exception here. This is Tony Romo's first game since signing that six year, $60 Million extension. I go with the Cowboys because they are the best team in the NFC.

Week Four NFL Preview

Brett Favre is one touchdown pass away from becoming the all time leader in Touchdown Passes.


The NFL is one-fourth of the way through the season. Week four is about to kick off. Here is a preview with every game and a prediction of the winner.

EARLY GAMES
Baltimore At Cleveland, 1:00 PM EST
Analysis: The Baltimore Ravens are on the road in Cleveland, but they will pull out a win thanks to their defense. The Ravens are a subpar offensive team, but their defense is how they win ballgames.
BALTIMORE OVER CLEVELAND

Chicago At Detroit, 1:00 PM EST
Analysis: The Rex Grossman era in Chicago (for now) is over. Brian Griese takes over as the Bears starting Quarterback this week, and he is taking on a Detroit Lions defense that was shredded last week by the "perfect" Donovan McNabb. Chicago will win against Detroit on the road, as their defense will perform better this week.

Green Bay At Minnesota, 1:00 PM EST (THE GAME OF THE WEEK)
Analysis: This game is the Game of The Week simply because Brett Favre is one Touchdown Pass away from becoming the new all time leader in Touchdown Passes. With one more pass, he will have career Touchdown pass Number 421. Many consider the all-time homerun record the greatest record in the history of American Sports, Second Place is the All Time Touchdown Pass Record. Brett Favre will go down as the one of the greatest Quarterbacks in the history of the game, perhaps the greatest pure passer in the history of the game. Green Bay's defense has stopped LaDanian Tomlinson cold, and I expect them to do the same to Adrian Peterson.

Analysis: Houston's defense will stop Joey Harrington from clompleting passes, and stop Jerious Norwood from finding the holes. Atlants's winless streak will continue.

Analysis: Two good Quarterbacks going at it. J.P. Losman for the Bills and Chad Pennington for the Jets. These two teams also have two good runners. Thomas Jones for the Jets and Marsahwn Lynch for the Bills. I'll go with the Jets because they have more wepons than the Bills.

Oakland At Miami, 1:00 PM EST
Analysis: Daunte Culpepper will get the nod for the Raiders. You know he wants to beat Miami, his former team. This game will be won with the running game. LaMont Jordan will try to run through the tough Miami Dolphins defense. Ronnie will have an almost as difficult time running through Oakland's defense. Who gonna win? It's a toss up. I go with Miami because they are at home, although this game really could go either way.

Analysis: Tony Romo and the Cowboys Offense will score a lot of points in this game. The Cowboy defense will prevent Marc Bulger and The Rams from breaking out of their winless streak.

Analysis: This is a Huge NFC West Matchup beacuse of what it means for both teams. San Francisco is coming off a loss to the recharged Steelers. Seattle is coming off a last minute win over The Bengals. Whoever wins this game will lead the NFC West. This game could come down to the running backs, Frank Gore for San Francisco and Shaun Alexander for the Seahawks. This is another tough one. I'll go with Seattle because of Matt Hasselbeck and Deion Branch.

Analysis: It doesn't matter who's starting for Carlolina, they're in trouble in this game. Tampa Bay will win this game. Carolina has been plagued by inconsistent play. It hasn't helped them win ballgames.

Denver at Indianapolis, 4:05 PM EST
Analysis: This is Indianpolis' first meet up with Denver ever since Adam Vinateiri kicked the game winning Field Goal for The Colts with five seonds remaining. Peyton Manning has been all calm and collected so far. i don't expect that to change. Jay Cutler may have a good day passing the Football, but Indianapolis will still win the game.
INDY OVER DENVER

Kansas City at San Diego, 4:05 PM EST
Analysis: Two underacheiving teams playing in this game. Kansas City is so desperate to win, Larry Johnson will play injured in this game. San Diego will win, simply because San Diego is at home and they feel like they have to prove something after losing to Green Bay last week.

Analysis: Arizona Head Coach Ken Whisenhunt and Assistant Coach Russ Grimm are taking on the team that they were with in the Bill Cowher Era.Arizona is coming off a tough, last second defeat to the Ravens last week. I'll go with Pittsburgh in this game because they have looked really good so far in the season.

Analysis: This is a big NFC East Matchup with both teams coming off a couple of big wins in an attempt to save their season. I'll go with the Eagles in this game. Thier Offense has been hot, and their defense had played well enough for Philly to break out of their winless streak.

Analysis: The Bengals will be reeling in this game without Rudi Johnson. Tom Brady will light up the Cincinnati Secondary, and New England will pull out another victory.

Colts Beat Down Saints in NFL Season Opener, 41-10

At first glance, the score gives the impression that the game was totally one-sided in favor of Peyton Manning and the Colts, but that wasn't quite how it happened.

The Indianapolis Colts really payed attention to whatever Head Coach Tony Dungy was telling them, because three long drives later (and an interception return for a touchdown near the end of the game) Indianapolis showed New Orleans how they were able to win Super Bowl XLI last season.

Peyton Manning was just 8-of-17 for 101 yards in the first half, 66 of those yards on two completions: the 27-yard TD to Harrison, plus 39 on a throw to tight end Dallas Clark that set up Adam Vinatieri's 33-yard field goal that tied the game at 10.

The game was tied 10-10 after a sloppy first half.

But Peyton Manning led two quick TD drives in the first 8:49 of the second half as the Colts put up 24 points in 20 minutes after intermission. On the first drive, Manning hit Harrison for 42 yards to set up a 2-yard TD run by Addai. Then the Super Bowl MVP came right back to throw a 28-yard TD pass to Wayne.

The Manning-Wayne 45-yarder made it 34-10 five minutes into the fourth quarter and Matt Giordano's 83-yard interception return sealed the deal.

Indianpolis was superb defensively. They were constantly in the Dime Prevent defense and the Cover Two Defense. That's why they gave up a lot of yards on the run, but did not get burned against the pass.

One guy you really have to feel sorry for is cornerback Jason David. Here's a guy who wins the Super Bowl with the Colts, the team that drafted him, and then he leaves them to get a big payday from the New Orleans Saints. I was expecting Davud to rough up Marvin Harrison and Reggie Wayne, just like I'm sure he used to do in practice when he was a Colt, but, it turned out that he was the guy getting burned. You do have to give David some credit though, as he stripped the football loose and ended up taking the fumble all the way back for the game tying touchdown.

It will be tough for Indianapolis as they attempt to become the first team since the Patriots to win two consecutive Super Bowls in the 21st Century, but Indy will be tough to beat if they play all season like they did last night.

NFL Preview: AFC South

Peyton Manning finally won "The Big One", and he will help Indianapolis win the AFC South again.


The Indianapolis Colts were able to overcome the eighteen point defecit to the New England Patriots to get to the Super Bowl, and were able to defeat the Self-imploding Chicago Bears in the Super Bowl. Peyton Manning finally got his Super Bowl, but he wants another. Now that Peyton has his Super Bowl Ring, the question now changes to will he be able to win another ring? The regular Season Kicks off this Thursday as the Defending World Champion Colts take on the New Orleans Saints. The Colts defense may be a questionmark entering the season, but the Colts still have the Offensive Juggernaught of Peyton Manning, Marvin Harrison, and Reggie Wayne. They drafted for a new Slot Receiver in Anthony Gonzales out of Ohio State, and are now having to bring their second draft choice, Tony Ugoh, on unexpectedly early after the retirement of Left Tackle Tarik Glenn. The Colts have the Chip on their shoulder, and the only team that I think has a shot to beat them and win the AFC South is the Tennesee Titans. The Colts will finish 11-5 to end the season. They just have to hope Tennesee doesn't go 12-4.
Prediction: 11-5, 1st Place

TENNESEE TITANS: The Titans took a huge step forward last year as soon as Vince Young was inserted as the Team's Starting Quarterback. Tennesee finished the year 8-8 and appears ready to take the next step right now. The titans have lost Drew Bennett and Bobby Wade to Free Agency, and that is really going to hurt Tennesee in the passing game. The Loss of Pac-Man Jones will hurt, but when you consider that Pac-Man didn't really want to be in the league anyway, he becomes an afterthought. If Tennesee's remaining recievers cannot step up, Vince Young will experience the "Sophomore Slump." Tennesee needs to put Vince Young in a bubble so he doesn't experience the dreaded "Madden Curse." If Vince goes down with an injury, Tennesee is done. Period. There is no way you lose a player of his stature and not feel the effects of it.

Prediction: 9-7, 2nd Place.

JACKSONVILLE JAGUARS: The Jaguars have given up on Byron Leftwich, releasing him and making David Garrard the Jaguars' Starting Quarterback. Leftwich and Garrard had similar styles, and Jacksonville is taking a huge gamble by releasing Leftwich. If Jacksonville underperforms this year, Jack Del Rio may not be coach of this team next season. Expect a lot of running from Fred Taylor and Maurice Jones-Drew. Marcus Stroud, The Pro Bowler, is the Heart of the Jags defense, and they will be as tough to score on this year as they were last year. The Big Question is the offense: Can Fred Taylor still handle the load? If not, this team may drop below Houston for fourth place.

Prediction: 8-8, 3rd Place.

HOUSTON TEXANS: The Houston Texans have given up on the David Carr experiment, replacing him with former Atlata backup Matt Schaub. Apparently, Houston didn't get the memo that the Quarterback was not the problem, it was the line protecting the Quarterback, and Matt Schaub will find that out early this season. The Texans are still trying to defend why they selected the underperforming Mario Williams over Reggie Bush, and the defense isn't working. Reggie was, is, and always will be, the better player than Mario Williams. That's fantastic news for all of the Saints fans out there, but horrible news for the suffering Texans fans. Sorry Houston. It's not gonna get any better this season. Whenever the Texans have looked like they were ready to take it to the next level, they have always gone back to square one. I think that's going to happen again this season.

Prediction: 4-12, 4th Place.
