The NFL Is Back Tonight!

The Pittsburgh Steelers will play their first game since they won Super Bowl XLII.

They play the Tennesee Titans in the NFL's first Regular season game.

I expect The Steelers to repeat that same formula that brougth them the title in tonight's game. Lots of running game and ball control offense. I just don't see Tennesee taking a victory in this game.

NFL Preview: AFC North

Can the newly christened "Chad Ocho Cinco" lead the Bengals to the AFC North title?

The AFC North was pretty much a disappointment last season. Baltimore was a dud last season. That led to the firing of Brian Billick as head coach. While Cleveland was the surprise team of 2007, led by Derek Anderson. The Bengals revolved around Chad Johnson and the Steelers revolved around the team concept. As a result of Pittsburgh's team play, they made the playoffs for the first time since they won Super Bowl XL.

Here's my first NFL Preview:

BENGALS
The Bengals released the injured Rudi Johnson. Chris Perry may be the one that takes Rudi's place. Carson Palmer may have another Pro Bowl Season. How much money Will Chad Ocho Cinco lose due to "Excessive Celebration?" Will the Bengals defense improve?

We know the Bengals explosive offense will return. Will their defense show up this year? Can the Bengals avoid any talk of the slammer this season? If so, expect The Bengals to make a return to the playoffs.

STEELERS
We finally saw the return of Ben Rothlisberger. Big Ben threw for 3,154 yards and 32 touchdowns. The Steelers had a solid running game with Willie Parker, and Hines Ward and Santonio Holmes were the Steelers most reliable recievers. The Steelers just drafted another reliable reciever in Limas Sweed. Pittsburgh's defense was anchored again by Troy Polamalu. James Farrior anchored Pittsburgh's linebacking Corps.

If Big Ben has another breakout season like they did last season, Pittsburgh should win the AFC North again.


RAVENS
The Baltimore Ravens have many questionmarks entering this season. They have lost the veteran leadership of Steve McNair, and now the Ravens will depend on Rookie Quarterback Joe Flacco. The Ravens still have Willis McGahee, and he should have another shot at a 1,000 yard rushing season. The Ravens Linebacking Corps is still anchored by Ray Lewis, who is still one of the best linebackers in the NFL.

The Ravens have a lot of questions. Too many to win the division.

CLEVELAND BROWNS
The Browns were the surprise team of last season. Led by Derek Anderson. Their return game was sparked by Josh Cribbs. Jamal Lewis had a solid first season in Cleveland. Kellen Winslow and Braylon Edwards should shine this season.

It will be tough for Cleveland to repeat their success from last season, starting the very first week of the season.

SATURDAY GAMES
REDSKINS AT SEAHAWKS 4:00 PM EST NBC
This game has so much meaning to the Redskins. They mourned the loss of teamate Sean Taylor, and Todd Collins has become the Redskins starter for the first time in ten years. The Running game will be vital to the success of both teams as Shaun Alexander and Clinton Portis will both get their names called early and often. This game, like every, will be won in the trenches. I give Seattle the edge in that category, but the sheer emotion the Redskins will be playing with makes this a game that could go either way. That being said, I'll take Seattle because I think the veterran leadership will help Seattle advance to the NFC Divisional Playoff game.
SEAHAWKS OVER REDSKINS

JAGUARS AT STEELERS 7:00 PM EST NBC
This game really is another one I'm looking forward to. The Jaguars have been called "the team you don't want to face in the playoffs." The Steelers have the misfortune of facing that team. The Steelers do have Homefield Advantage, but their running game will be hurt because Willie Parker is lost for the season. Both of these defenses are scary good. This game may end up coming down to the kickers.I think this game, like the Seahawks-Redskins game, will come down to the running game. I'll go with Jacksonville because I think Fred Taylor and Maurice Jones-Drew will run for good yardage.
JAGUARS OVER STEELERS

SUNDAY GAMES
GIANTS AT BUCCANEERS 1:00 PM EST FOX
This game will be great. Two great defesnes for both teams. Jeff Garcia has been a thorn in the Giants side, as he led playoff vicotries against the Giants in 2003 and last season. Garcia once again gets the chance to rub salt in the wound. The Giants scored 35 points against the Patriots, the most points the Patriots had given up all season, but The Patriots came back from a twelve point defecit, their lagest of the season, to beat The Patriots 38-35. Eli Manning will always have the label "He's not as good as his brother." The first step to erasing that monkier would be a victory over the Buccaneers. This game will come down to the passing game. Whichever Quarterback can keep the turnover column at zero will be the one picking up the win. I think the Buccaneers can be that team.
BUCCANEERS OVER GIANTS

TITANS AT CHARGERS 4:00 PM EST CBS
This game has a questionmark associated with it. Who will start at quarterback for the Titans? Vince Young or Kerry Collins? If Vince Young is at the helm, the Chargers will have to look out in case he wants to run. If Kerry Collins starts, the Chargers will not have to worry about Collins running. Both of these teams have great defenses that will bring the heat early and often. The key for both teams will be the wuick pass to countract the blitz. The Tennesee defense will have to be on their toes again LaDanian Tomlinson, if he gets some daylight, he is off to the endzone. When these two teams played earlier in the season, LaDanian Tomlinson scored the game winning youchdown in overtime. I think The Chargers will win again.

Week Seventeen NFL Preview

In The Final Regular Season NFL Preview, Tom Brady and the New England Patriots chase perfection Saturday Night against Michael Strahan and the New York Giants.

Welcome to the final NFL Preview of 2007. It is the final regular season week for football, and there are a couple of teams who will know if they are in or out of the playoff picture by the end of this week.

SATURDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL: PATRIOTS AT GIANTS 8:15 PM EST(THE GAME OF THE WEEK)
Already the first team to go 15-0 in a regular season, New England now tries to join the 1972 Miami Dolphins as the only teams to take an unbeaten record into the playoffs. Miami went 14-0 that season and won the Super Bowl, but this year's Dolphins could not spoil the Patriots' perfect run last Sunday and lost 28-7 at Foxborough.

New York (10-5) is locked into the No. 5 seed in the NFC and might want to rest some starters because it does not have a first-round bye. The Giants will visit Tampa Bay in a wild-card game next weekend.

No opponent has had a good answer defensively for the Patriots, whose 551 points leave them needing just six to break the league's single-season record set by the 1998 Minnesota Vikings. The only time New England failed to total more than 20 points or 300 yards of offense came two weeks ago against the New York Jets in horrendous weather conditions, but there is no rain, snow or strong wind in the forecast for Saturday.

A clear night would only make things easier on Brady, Moss and New England's vaunted air attack. Single-season league records are in sight for both Pro Bowlers, with Brady needing two touchdown passes to break Peyton Manning's record of 49 and Moss two TD receptions away from surpassing Jerry Rice's record of 22.

Another record within the Patriots' grasp is the one for consecutive regular-season victories. They already have tied their own league record by winning 18 straight.
Tom Brady enters this game 105 yards shy of Drew Bledsoe's 1994 club record of 4,555.

Buffallo is now out of the playoff hunt. Philly was never in the playoff hunt. Both teams should play their starters for the whole game.

It's not very often that the final game of the season has so much excitement regaurdig the playoff picture, but thanks to Flex Scheduling, we get an interesting matchup for the final game of 2007.

"The Dawg Pound" will help give the Browns another victory.

PITTSBURGH AT NEW ENGLAND (THE GAME OF THE WEEK)
New England looks to become the fourth team in the modern era to start an NFL season 13-0 and the first to win 16 straight regular-season games since the Steelers in 2004-05 when it hosts Pittsburgh on Sunday.

If there was a team equipped to end the Patriots' streaks, the Steelers (9-3) may fit the bill. After all, Pittsburgh ended New England's league-record 21-game winning streak -- 18 in the regular season -- on Oct. 31, 2004, when it was in the midst of winning 16 in a row. The Patriots returned the favor on Sept. 25, 2005, stopping the Steelers' streak with a come-from-behind win at Heinz Field.

Even though the Steelers are heavy underdogs this time heading into Foxborough, their top-ranked defense has allowed the fewest points, total yards and passing yards in the NFL. New England is No. 1 offensively in each of those categories.

The only teams to begin a season 13-0 since the 1970 AFL-NFL merger were 1972 Miami, 1998 Denver and 2005 Indianapolis.

New England can clinch home field advantage with a win and a Colts loss. With a win, the Patriots clinch a First Round bye. Pittsburgh clinches the AFC North with a win and a Browns loss. The Steelers clinch a Playoff berth with a win and a Titans loss.

I'll go with New England over Pittsburgh. New England has come close to losing twice. Maybe the third time they will trail and not be able to come back.

This is always a huge rivalry game. The Colts used to play in Baltimore. They packed up the team in the middle of the night and moved to Indianapolis in 1983. Baltimore fans have not forgiven Jim Irsay and the Irsay family for moving the Colts out of Baltimore. Baltimore played really well last week and they almost beat the Patriots. I expect them to play well again this week, but they will bring the hammer down against Peyton Manning and the Colts. Despite that, I think Indy will find a way to win and beat the Ravens.

This Is Washington's first game since the death of Sean Taylor on Tuesday. I am sure the team will play with heavy hearts for the rest of the season. It diesn't even seem fair to pick a winner for this game, but I think Washington will play through their grief and beat the Bills.

This is a big NFC North Matchup. The Lions are second in the divison. The Vikings are last in the win column. A win by The Vikings would keep them on pace with Chicago. I'll go with Minnesota.

The New York Jets are coming off a loss to Dallas on Thanksgiving Day. Miami is coming off an ugly loss to the Steelers 3-0 Monday Night. Ricky Williams is the latest Dolphin injured. Miami just cannot catch a break. Ted Ginn Jr. is the only playmaker on this sorry team. I'll go with the Jets.

Kansas City is coming off an ugly loss to Oakland 2-17. Kolby Smith rushed for 150 yards and it looked like Kansas City would win for a while. San Diego is coming off a loss to Jacksonville last week. I'll go with San Diego to beat Kansas City.

This is a fantastic battle at the running back position as Brian Westbrook opposes Shaun Alexander. A.J. Feeley had a fantastic game for the Eagles last Sunday Night and if it wasn't for two poorly timed interceptions, we would once again be talking about a Quarterback controversy in Philly, as A.J. almost led the Eagles to victory over the Patriots last Sunday Night. I'll go with Philly because they are at home.

Vinny Testaverde starts for the Panthers this week. The 49ers Defense came up huge last week against The Cardinals. Analysis: The Baltimore Ravens are on the road in Cleveland, but they will pull out a win thanks to their defense. The Ravens are a subpar offensive team, but their defense is how they win ballgames.

Analysis: The Rex Grossman era in Chicago (for now) is over. Chicago will win against Detroit on the road, as their defense will perform better this week.

Analysis: This game is the Game of The Week simply because Brett Favre is one Touchdown Pass away from becoming the new all time leader in Touchdown Passes. Many consider the all-time homerun record the greatest record in the history of American Sports, Second Place is the All Time Touchdown Pass Record. Brett Favre will go down as the one of the greatest Quarterbacks in the history of the game, perhaps the greatest pure passer in the history of the game. Green Bay's defense has stopped LaDanian Tomlinson cold, and I expect them to do the same to Adrian Peterson.

Analysis: Daunte Culpepper will get the nod for the Raiders. You know he wants to beat Miami, his former team. This game will be won with the running game. LaMont Jordan will try to run through the tough Miami Dolphins defense. Ronnie will have an almost as difficult time running through Oakland's defense. Who gonna win? It's a toss up. I go with Miami because they are at home, although this game really could go either way.

Analysis: Two underacheiving teams playing in this game. Kansas City is so desperate to win, Larry Johnson will play injured in this game. San Diego will win, simply because San Diego is at home and they feel like they have to prove something after losing to Green Bay last week.

NFL Week 3 Preview

Terrell Owens will have a hard time getting open versus the tough Chicago Secondary.

Week two of the NFL Season is over, and there have already been some big suprises. Detroit is 2-0 and may be 3-0 as they are facing an underacheiving, 0-2 Philladelphia Eagles team. Donovan McNabb is trying to stir the attention away from his team, but McNabb and his team needs a win against Detroit.

Here's the Week 3 Schedule, complete with analysis and a prediction of the winner.

ST. LOUIS AT TAMPA BAY 1:00 PM EST
Analysis: The Rams are coming off a tough one point loss to the 49ers last Sunday. Tampa Bay has started off 1-1 in this make or break season for Head Coach Jon Gruden. I'm going with the Rams to win on the road because they will play better than they did last Sunday.

Analysis: LaDanian Tomlinson is ice cold in his first two games. The Chargers are struggling because LaDanian Tomlinson is not rushing for many yards through his first two games. Green Bay, suprisingly, is 2-0. Brett Favre, with last week's victory over the Giants, has become the winningest Quarterback in NFL history. The Packers Defense is tough, headlined by linebacker A.J. Hawk. The Packers may end up putting six or seven men in the box to stop L.T., which should open up the floodgates for Phillip Rivers, Antonio Gates, and the explosive San Diego Chargers offense.

MIAMI AT NEW YORK JETS 1:00 PM EST
Analysis: Two struggling teams are playing each other. Both of these teams are 0-2, and both of these teams have players banged up with injuries. Zach Thomas is out for the Dolphins in this game. It's a toss up. It's the Turkey Game of the week. I go with Miami because of Ronnie Brown. The Dolphins will have success on the ground in this game.

Analysis: The Baltimore Ravens will start Steve McNair in this game despite the fact that he is still recovering from a groin injury. The Ravens are coming off a win against the Jets, and the Cardinals are coming off against a last second Field Goal to beat their division rival Seattle. Arizona has the offense. Baltimore has the defense. I go with Baltimore because of their defense.

INDIANAPOLIS AT HOUSTON 1:00 PM EST
Analysis: Andre Johnson is out for this game against the Colts. Both Houston and Indianapolis are 2-0. Jacoby Jones and Ahman Green will have to step it up for the Texans. The Texans are 2-0 because of their defense. DeMeco Ryans, the Defenseive Rookie of the Year, paired with first round selections Mario Williams and Amobi Okoye, headline a dangerous defense. Indy finally discovered the secret to winning a Super Bowl last season. It's having a defense that can prevent your opponents from scoring. Houston is discovering the same thing, particularly after they stopped Carolina dead in their tracks after the Panthers had a 14-0 lead, and the Texans scored 35 unanswered points. Peyton Manning and the Colts will be in a defensive battle, but Indy will pull out the victory. Houston's biggest weapon isn't playing for them, and that will be why they lose.

Analysis: Detroit is 2-0, and Philladelphia is 0-2. Two things that I totally did not expect have happened. Detroit is on the road in Philladelphia. This will be their first true test of the season. Calvin Johnson has revolutionized Detroit's passing game, making Jon Kitna look like he was back in Cincinnatti. I go with Philladelphia because they are at home.

NFL Preview: NFC South

Drew Brees and the Saints are Ready to Go Marching In for another NFC South Title.



The Suprise Team for the 2006 Season was the New Orleans Saints. The Saints were revitalized by the Cannon Right Arm of Drew Brees, and by the running of the elusive runner Reggie Bush, whether it was returning kicks and punts or running out of the backfield. The Saints also were able to turn Seventh Round Draft Choice Marques Colston out of Hofstra into the steal of the draft. Tbe Saints are ready for an Offensive Showdown vs the Colts Tommorow Night on NBC. The Saints will win the NFC South Easily, as they have no competition. The Saints have the potential to go to the Super Bowl. These guys aren't The 'Aints anymore.

Prediction: 11-5, 1st Place.

So, how did teams like Carolina, Tampa Bay, and Atlanta going to fare this season? keep Reading.

Carolina Panthers: The Panthers were many people's pick to go to the Super Bowl last season. They didn't even make the playoffs, fizzling out at 8-8. The inconsistent play of jake Delhomme last season, for his sake, has to stop. If it doesn't, expect Carolina to bring in David Carr, who will never take enough Asprin to have relief from all of the headaches he suffers from being repeatedly thrown to the turf time after time in Houston. DeShaun and DeAngelo Williams will be a good 1-2 Punch for Carolina. Jullius Peppers will rack up the sacks. The sudden retirement of Mike Minter will hurt Carolina's Secondary. Carolina has a shot to make the playoffs, but only only if Jake Delhomme looks like the Jake of 2004 which took Carolina to the Super Bowl, not the 2007 Jake, which was almost as consistent as Rex Grossman in Chicago.

Prediction: 9-7, 2nd Place.

TAMPA BAY BUCCANEERS: The Tampa Buccaneers are reeling from the loss of Mike Alstott for at least this season. Cato June will help the Baccaneers linebacking. The loss of Simeon Rice hurts Tampa Bay defensively. Chris Simms is still trying to come back from a ruptured spleen. Cadilac Williams may for 1,000 yards this season. Jeff Garcia wass a good option option for Tampa Bay, as he is better than every other Tampa Bay Quarterback. This team won't look like the 2003 Bucs, which means Jon Gruden may be on the way out in Tampa bay.

Prediction: 7-9, 3rd Place.

ATLANTA FALCONS: The Mike Vick situation eliminates Atlanta's Season. Period. They would have finished 7-9 with him. They may not even win three games without him. Joey Harrington has not proved himself on any team he has won the Starting Quarterback job in. Joe Horn is a good veteran receiver, but his numbers will go way down. Jerious Norwood and Jamaal Anderson will be two bright spots on this team, but don't look for any more. Atlanta will finish 2-14 without Mike Vick, and Atlanta will look for another Quarterback, possiblt Brian Brohm of Louisville, so Head Coach Bobby Petrino can institute the Spread Offense, just like he had at Louisville.

Prediction: 2-14, 4th Place.

NFL Preview: NFC West

Shaun Alexander is the best running back in the NFC, and he will help Seattle win the NFC West again.



The Seattle Seahawks in 2006 compiled a 14-2 record and advanced all the way to the Super Bowl. where they were defeated by the Pittsburgh Steelers. The following Season, they advanced to the NFC Divisional Playoff Game, where they were defeated by the Chicago Bears on a last second, game winning Field Goal. Matt Hasselbeck, Shaun Alexander, and Deion Branch headline the best offense in the NFC West. The defense in Seattle is pretty good as well, headlined by LineBacker Lofa Tatupu and CornerBack Kelly Herndon is the also one of the best in the NFC. There is no doubt in my mind that Seattle will win the NFC West again.

Prediction: 12-4, 1st Place.

SAN FRANCISCO 49ers: San Francisco is on the rise. The team mant did not expect to win five games won seven games, including a thrilling barnburner of a game on the NFL Network where San Francisco, trailing by 17 points, scored 24 unanswered point to take the victory 24-17. It was the Greatest Game in the History of Thursday Night Football, and the greatest finish to a game nobody saw since "The Heidi Bowl."

San Francisco has lost Offensive Coordinator Norv Turner, as he is now the Head Coach of the San Diego Chargers. Alex Smith really took a step forward last season, as he really got comfortable throwing to Tight End Vernon Davis. The 49ers Defense continues to get better, and San Francisco has a shot to get above .500 this season.

Prediction: 9-7 2nd Place.

ST. LOUIS RAMS: The Saint Lous Rams have made some improvements, the biggest being the acquisition of Kick Returner Dante Hall from Kansas City. Hall needs just one more return touchdown to become the all time leader in returns for touchdowns. Marc Bulger is till in St. Louis, as is Torry Holt and Issac Bruce. Marshall Faulk is retired, but the Rams have the perfect guy to fill his cleats in Steven Jackson. He's gonna be something, provided the hard turf of the Edward Jones Dome doesn't tear up his knees. The Rams don't have much of a defense anymore, but their offense is still there, and Offense, as always, is how you win in St. Louis. That Being said, The Rams are going to have Jackson rush for 1,000 yards, and Marc Bulger will light it up in the passing game. I just don't trust their defense, and that will be their downfall.

Prediction: 7-9, 3rd Place.

ARIZONA CARDINALS: The Cardinals' New Stadium in Glendale, Arizona will be the site for Super Bowl XLII. The Cardinals have a lot of upside offensively, with second year man Matt Leinart, Running Back Edgerrin James, and Wide Receivers Larry Fitzgerald and Anquan Boldin. The Cardinals have also brought Ken Whisenhunt from Pittsburgh, replacing Dennis Green as head Coach. Arizona has the offense. However, they have no defense, and this team, like Moses and the Israelites, will be stuck wandering in the desert for the Promised Land.

NFL Preview: NFC North

Brian Urlacher is the heart of the Chicago Bears Defense,and the defense is why the Bears will win the NFC North Again.


The Chicago Bears of 2006 had the greatest season in 22 years. The Bears made it all the way to the Super Bowl, before "Mr. Inconsistent" Rex Grossman started fumbling snaps and throwing interceptions, throwing away Chicago's chance for their first Super Bowl Title since the days of "Sweetness" Walter Payton, and "Da Fridge" William Perry. The Bears still have the best defense in the entire NFC, so that alone chalks them up to win at least 11 games this season. Add to that the fact that no other team in the NFC North appears ready to make a run at the Bears, and the Bears, as long as Rex Grossman becomes more consistent, will have a shot at the Super Bowl again this season.

Prediction:11-5, 1st Place.

GREEN BAY PACKERS: Yes, Cheeseheads, Brett Favre is back to attempt to become all time Touchdown Pass King, but he doesn't have any descent receivers. Javon Walker is gone, and Michael Jennings is a questionmark. Ahman Green is also no longer with the Packers, but, with his career winding down anyway, I don't it would have made much of a difference. One thing Green Bay does have working for them is their linebacking Corps, heralded by A.J. Hawk out of Ohio State. If it wasn't for Brian Urlacher, we would be calling A.J. Hawk the best linebacker in the NFC North. Mike McCarthy may suprise people this season if some real breakout players emerge in the regular season. I just don't see it happening.

Prediction: 7-9, 2nd Place.


MINNESOTA VIKINGS: Tavaris Jackson may be ready to emerge as a premiere Quarterback this season. Adrian Peterson will rush for 1,000 yards behind Steve Hutchinson and will help Minnesota win games. Troy Williamson needs to show more consistency in the Wide Reciever department. The Vikings Secondary is starting to age. Minnesota will take one step forward with Adrian Peterson, but will take two steps back in the aging defense. Is Tavaris Jackson ready to step up? If so, this team may be in contention until midway through the season.

Prediction: 6-10, 3rd Place.

DETROIT LIONS: There is optemism in Detroit behind Calvin Johnson, and he will be a great player on a terrible Detroit Lions team. Jon Kitna is so-so, and Kevin Jones and T.J. Duckett won't be able to run for a whole lot. Detroit's defense is terrible. The Lions will have to deal without Dre Bly, as they traded him away. Yes, there is optemism in Detroit, but under this Matt Millen Franchise, it won't be there for long.

Prediction: 4-12, 4th Place.

NFL Preview: NFC East

Tono Romo has a fire in his belly, and is ready to come back and lead Dallas to an NFC East Crown.

The Cowboys have a new Head Coach and have high expectations for him. Wade Phillips, the Son of Houston Oilers Coach "Bum" Phillips, is much more laid back than "The Tuna", Bill Parcells ever was. Tony Romo took over for the veteran Drew Bledsoe, and Romo instantly helped improve the Cowboys, as Romo was able to use his agility to make quick throws behind the weak Cowboy Offensive line. Bledsoe, on the other hand, was your classic Drop Back Passer, and was not able to get time from the Cowboy Offensive line, meaning many sacks on the Veteran QB. Tony Romo will step it up next year, albeit without Cowboys Quarterback Coach Wade Wilson, who was suspended five Regular Season Games for Using Human Growth Hormone! Unbelievable! When was the last time you heard of a Coach using HGH? Wow! Despite the loss of Wilson, the Cowboys still have veteran Wide Recieivers Terrell Owens and Terry Glenn, and Jason Witten continues to improve as a blocker and a receiver. Jullius Jones and Marion Barber are the best 1-2 Punch in the NFC North. The Cowboy defense is good as well, as DeMarcus Ware will put a hurt on many opposing Quarterbacks this season. As long as Tony Romo is not holding for field goals this season, expect Dallas to win the NFC East.

Prediction: 11-5, 1st Place.

PHILLADELPHIA EAGLES: The Eagles still have Donovan McNabb, but they have lost theie "Insurance Policy" in Jeff Garcia. Jeff came up huge for Philly as he helped them go to the playoffs. Garcia is now in the sinking Ship of Tampa Bay. The Eagles traded their first round pick to the Cowboys, and then used their second round pick to select Kevin Kolb, out of Houston. Many people are saying this is McNabb's last chance. If he does not start all sixteen games healthy, many are saying he will not be the Eagles' Qaurterback Next Season. I like McNabb, and I hope that does not happen. Jevon Kearse missed all of last season, and is going to come back rejuvinated. Lito Sheppard and Brian Dawkins are the two best corners in the NFC East. Takeo Spikes will help the Eagles Linebacking Corps. The Eagles do not have a real Number One Threat for a Wide Receiver, and the release of vetaran linbacker Jeremiah Trotter angered many in "Eagle Nation." WASHINGTON REDSKINS: The Redskins have Hall Of Fame Coach Joe Gibbs, but Joe has just a bunch of Ordinary Players. Clinton Portis and Lidell Betts are two very good runners, almost as good as Jullius Jones and Marion Barber in Dallas. The Redskin defense will continue to hit hard, with Sean Taylor and LaRon Landry out of LSU. The secondary does not cover well, and the Redskins front four must improve att Bringing Pressure to the opposing Quarterback. Jason Campell will have some growing pains in his first full season under center, and the Redskins offensive line just is not very good, but the trade for Pete Kendall helps that a little bit.

Pediction: 7-9, 3rd Place.

NEW YORK GIANTS: Osi Umenyiora could become something special. Jeremy Shockey and Plaxico Burress are two good New York Receivers.
Eli Manning has shown signs of being gun-shy in New York, and he must improve. Defense ouside of Michael Strahan and Osi Umenyiora not that great. Giants have huge shoes to fill now that Tiki Barber is retired. Tom Couglin may not be back as Giants Coach after this season. There are too many distractions and discord for this team to contend in the East, which is not good news for Tom Coughlin.

Prediction: 6-10, 4th Place.

NFL Preview: AFC West

LaDanian Tomlinson was "Mr. Do-It All" for the San Diego Chargers last season, and he will help the Chargers win the AFC West Again.



The San Diego Chargers finsihed the Regular Season 14-2 Last Season and had a two touchdown lead on the New England Patriots before the Chragers gave the game away. Tom Brady led the Patriots back from the fourteen point defecit and knocked the Chargers out of the postseason. The San Diego Chargers then, inexplicably, fired Head Coach Marty Schottenheimer, replacing him with San Francisco 49ers Offensive Coordinator Norv Turner. The Coach may be different, but the Coach's phillosophy and players are the same, meaning San Diego wins the division again and will face New England in the AFC Championship Game (Week 2, Chargers face the Patriots in New England on Sunday Night Football.)The Offense is great as Phillip Rivers is the Quarterback of the most explosive running game in the league. The defense is great as Shawne Merriman was a mosnster last year, and he will help San Diego this year as long as he is on the field. The Special Teams is great as well, as Michael Turner will be fielding kicks and punts, and he has the speed of Devin Hester.

Prediction: 12-4, 1st Place.

DENVER BRONCOS: Champ Bailey is the meaning of the word "Shutdown Corner." Quarterbacks won't even look to his side of the field because they know he can run back interceptions for touchdowns every time he gets an interception. Travis Henry may keep the Denver tradition alive of a 1,000 yard rusher. Javon Walker is one of the best Wide Receivers in Football. Green Bay is still sorry they traded him away. Jay Cutler is a precision passer and could be ready to lead the "Mile High City" to a Playoff Appearance. The death of Cornerback Darrent Williams and Running Back Darrren Nash are, without question, going to be tough for this team to overcome. Special Teams, outside of Veteran Kicker Jason Elam, is a questionmark.

Prediction: 10-6, 2nd Place

KANSAS CITY CHIEFS: The Chiefs have Larry Johnson, and Priest Holmes may be ready to come back late in the season. Tony Gonzalez is going to be the focal point of Damon Huard and the Kansas City Offense. Derrick Johnson is the primary Linebacker, and he may be ready for a Pro Bowl Season.Damon Huard has spent most of his career as a backup, but seemed to flourish last year when called on to take over for Trent Green, and that's why he's the starter, although Brodie Croyle will be the Chiefs Starting QB a few years from now. The trading away of Trent Green is understandable, as he was a questionmark entering the season, but now that he has been traded away, Kansas City has lost that Veteran Leadership. Larry Johnson needs to cut down on the load, or his shelf life in the NFL may keep decreasing.

Prediction: 7-9, 3rd Place.

Oakland Raiders: The Raiders have a new head coach, Lane Kiffin, who comes over from the University of Southern California. Defense has some standouts. Michael Huff could have a good year this season. Dominic Rhodes and Michael Bush could be a good 1-2 Punch.The Raiders Quarterback Issue is their Achilles Heel, whether it is Daunte Culpepper or JaMarcus Russell, they are going to feel the abscence of Randy Moss in the Passing game. The Raiders will finish fourth in this division, as they are just the worst team in the best division of the AFC.

Prediction: 4-12, 4th Place

NFL Preview: AFC South

Peyton Manning finally won "The Big One", and he will help Indianapolis win the AFC South again.


The Indianapolis Colts were able to overcome the eighteen point defecit to the New England Patriots to get to the Super Bowl, and were able to defeat the Self-imploding Chicago Bears in the Super Bowl. Peyton Manning finally got his Super Bowl, but he wants another. Now that Peyton has his Super Bowl Ring, the question now changes to will he be able to win another ring? The regular Season Kicks off this Thursday as the Defending World Champion Colts take on the New Orleans Saints. The Colts defense may be a questionmark entering the season, but the Colts still have the Offensive Juggernaught of Peyton Manning, Marvin Harrison, and Reggie Wayne. They drafted for a new Slot Receiver in Anthony Gonzales out of Ohio State, and are now having to bring their second draft choice, Tony Ugoh, on unexpectedly early after the retirement of Left Tackle Tarik Glenn. The Colts have the Chip on their shoulder, and the only team that I think has a shot to beat them and win the AFC South is the Tennesee Titans. The Colts will finish 11-5 to end the season. They just have to hope Tennesee doesn't go 12-4.
Prediction: 11-5, 1st Place

TENNESEE TITANS: The Titans took a huge step forward last year as soon as Vince Young was inserted as the Team's Starting Quarterback. Tennesee finished the year 8-8 and appears ready to take the next step right now. The titans have lost Drew Bennett and Bobby Wade to Free Agency, and that is really going to hurt Tennesee in the passing game. The Loss of Pac-Man Jones will hurt, but when you consider that Pac-Man didn't really want to be in the league anyway, he becomes an afterthought. If Tennesee's remaining recievers cannot step up, Vince Young will experience the "Sophomore Slump." Tennesee needs to put Vince Young in a bubble so he doesn't experience the dreaded "Madden Curse." If Vince goes down with an injury, Tennesee is done. Period. There is no way you lose a player of his stature and not feel the effects of it.

Prediction: 9-7, 2nd Place.

JACKSONVILLE JAGUARS: The Jaguars have given up on Byron Leftwich, releasing him and making David Garrard the Jaguars' Starting Quarterback. Leftwich and Garrard had similar styles, and Jacksonville is taking a huge gamble by releasing Leftwich. If Jacksonville underperforms this year, Jack Del Rio may not be coach of this team next season. Expect a lot of running from Fred Taylor and Maurice Jones-Drew. Marcus Stroud, The Pro Bowler, is the Heart of the Jags defense, and they will be as tough to score on this year as they were last year. The Big Question is the offense: Can Fred Taylor still handle the load? If not, this team may drop below Houston for fourth place.

Prediction: 8-8, 3rd Place.

HOUSTON TEXANS: The Houston Texans have given up on the David Carr experiment, replacing him with former Atlata backup Matt Schaub. Apparently, Houston didn't get the memo that the Quarterback was not the problem, it was the line protecting the Quarterback, and Matt Schaub will find that out early this season. The Texans are still trying to defend why they selected the underperforming Mario Williams over Reggie Bush, and the defense isn't working. Reggie was, is, and always will be, the better player than Mario Williams. That's fantastic news for all of the Saints fans out there, but horrible news for the suffering Texans fans. Sorry Houston. It's not gonna get any better this season. Whenever the Texans have looked like they were ready to take it to the next level, they have always gone back to square one. I think that's going to happen again this season.

Prediction: 4-12, 4th Place.

NFL Preview: AFC North

Ray Lewis is the heart of the Ravens defense, and he will help the Ravens win the AFC North again.



The Baltimore Ravens may have lost Adalius Thomas to Free Agency, but the Ravens still have Ray Lewis, the best linebacker in the AFC. Add to that defense Samari Rolle, Steve McNair's old buddy from Tennesee, and that the Ravens now have upgraded their running game with Willis McGahee, and Baltimore is going to win the AFC North.

Prediction: 10-6, 1st Place.

What have the teams like Cincinnatti, Pittsburgh and Cleveland done to try to keep up? Here's a quick recap.

CINCINNATTI BENGALS: If The Cincinnati Bengals can spend more time on the field than behind bars, they have a chance to keep up with Baltimore through the early part of the season. The loss of David Pollack for the entire season hurts, but the Bengals still have one of the best offenses in the AFC. Carson Palmer needs to take the next step this year, and Chad Johnson, "Ocho Cinco" will continue to be the focal point of the Bengals passing game, although the loss of Chris Henry for the first eight games will hurt. The Bengals will continue running the ball with Rudi Johnson, who will carry the ball enough times to reach 1,000 yards rushing. I just think Cincinnati needs to show they can step it up in the abscence of David Pollack on the defense and Chris Henry for the first half of the season on offense.

Prediction: 8-8, 2nd Place.

PITTSBURGH STEELERS: The Pittsburgh Steelers finally "Won one for the thumb" with their Super Bowl XL victory over the Seahawks, but Pittsburgh is a totally different team since they hoisted the Lombardi Trophy two seasons ago. Jerome Bettis, "The Bus" is gone, Antwaan Randle-El is now with the Redskins, Joey Porter is now with the Dolphins, Ben Rothlisberger is still trying to recover from the adverse effects of his Motorcycle Accident, and former Head Coach Bill Cowher has, at least for now, retired. The Steelers now have former Minnesota Vikings Defensive Coordinator Mike Tomlin as their Head Coach. Joey Porter has been replaced by Linebacker Lamar Woodley out of Michigan. Hines Ward is still there, and he will be the focal pointr for Ben Rothelisberger this year, as always. Willie Parker, who broke the longest Touchdown Run in the History of the Super Bowl in Super Bowl XL, could run for up to 1,000 yards, as longtime Steeler Alan Faneca in fact will get ready for the season despite his unhappiness with his current contract. There is just too much missing from the Steelers to have a playoff year this year, but I think they will be in better position next season.

Prediction: 7-9, 3rd Place.

CLEVELAND BROWNS: The "Dawg Pound" is clamoring for Brady Quinn to be the Starting QB for the Browns by the start of the season opener, but it doesn't appear as if it's going to happen. Right Now, the Strting QB job is Charlie Frye's to lose and Brady Quinn's to gain. The Browns have Jamal Lewis, but he is really on the downside of his career. I don't see him rushing for 1,000 yards. Willie McGinest, the former Patriot, is winding down his carrer in Cleveland, and if the team does not show improvement right away, Romeo Crennel might get the axe as Head Coach before the season is over.

Prediction: 6-10, 4th Place.

NFL Preview: AFC East

Tom Brady already has three Super Bowl Rings, and his gunning for his fourth with his new best friend, Randy Moss.

Tom Brady has a new baby boy, and he has a new wide reciever threat as he guns for his fourth super bowl title. The Patriots made a huge addition defensively in signing former Baltimore Raven Adalius Thomas. The Patriots then traded for Randy Moss, bringing a huge Wide Reciever Threat that they did not have last season. The Patriots will finish 13-3 and win the AFC East again, no question. The Jets and the Dolphins also made big moves, but it isn't enough to stop the juggernaut of the New England Patriots. The Patriots will finish 13-3 and win the division.

How are the other teams in the AFC East doing in their quest to catch the Patriots? Well, Here'a a quick rundown.


NEW YORK JETS: The New York Jets made some more big moves in the offseason, and are not marred by controversy between a former football player/ TV Analyst ripping his Quarterback, and Vice Versa. The New York Jets lost Veteran Running Back Curtis Martin, but Replaced him with former Chicago Bears Running Back Thomas Jones. The Jets Also have Chad Pennington and Head Coach Eric Mangini, and I think the "Mangenius" will have a better year than That Other New York Team, as those guys may start looking for a new head coach after Super Bowl XLII.

PREDICTION: 9-7, 2nd Place


MIAMI DOLPHINS: The Dolphins made a couple of big moves on the offensive and defensive sides of the ball. On the offensive side of the ball, the Miami Dolphins acquired QB Trent Green from Kansas City. On Draft Day, the Dolphins focused on offense, using their first pick not on Brady Quinn, but on Ted Ginn Jr, The Speedster Wide Reciever out of Ohio State. The Patriots then used their second pick on a Quarterback, selecting John Beck out of BYU. The Patriots made a huge additon on the defensive side of the ball, trading for Linebacker Joey Porter, the key member of the Pittsburgh Steelers and their Super Bowl XL Victory.

The Dolphins also released the underperforming Daunte Culpepper, who will now become a mentor to JaMarcus Russell in Oakland.

PREDICTION: 8-8, 3rd Place


BUFFALLO BILLS: The Buffalo Bills have J.P Losman and Lee Evans, but not much else. Willis McGahee is no longer with the team, and I don't care who you draft to try to replace him, you just simply cannot replace an offensive playmaker like Willis McGahee. The Bills will be lucky to win six games this year.

Prediction: 5-11, 4th Place.
